Good morning! Khristina here. This time of year it seems like December Daily is what all of the buzz is centered around. Last year was my first year and so I am looking forward to a fresh perspective, some lessons learned, and a whole lot of fun this holiday season. Do you enjoy this project? What do you do to get ready? I have been watching some videos of past years and looking through all of my supplies and trying to form a plan in my head. I have learned that I cannot do foundation pages (I know...I know...) So part of my prep for this year has been dealing with the reality of going back to last year's project and getting it done. Yep, I am one of those people who just didn't get it all done and I am okay with that. I am determined to get this project finished and it is all going to be okay. Today, I wanted to focus on some photos that I randomly took of my husband and our kids. They were standing in this boxcar and it just struck me that this family is constantly in a state of change. Movement and change (and let's be honest some craziness) is what a blended family is about especially during holiday seasons. So even though this story is part of my December Daily, it is more a story about how our family embraces the magic of the holidays despite some blended family challenges. I grabbed my CK Holiday Card Kit and some leftovers from my November kit because there are SO many great pieces still in there and got to work. This is going to be day fifteen and so my format was set for me as I already finished day fourteen and day sixteen. I knew that I wanted to include a little touch of hand-stitching and so I outlined the candy canes on this 3x4 card from the kit. The left card was just a piece of patterned paper layered up with a few die cuts from the kit. I added some dimension to the "very merry" with some foam adhesive and added a couple of stars and a doily from my stash and loved the simple, clean look. The bottom of the page was the 4x6 distant shot of my family and I grabbed by gold foil alphabet from the November kit and it was perfect to add the word blended. Next, I was on to the right side of the page which was a 6x8 full page layout. I loved the Carousel paper from the November kit and used that to create my background. I backed my photo with some red polka dot paper from the Holiday card kit as well as a 3x4 card to include my story and a couple of die cuts. I used my TAB punch to create a little label at the very top of my photo and added my cork number for this page. My journaling tells the story of how the holidays can be tricky but that sharing the magic of the season makes it all worth it. I would love it if you would stop by the video that goes along with this spread as well. You can find that here.. And that's it....December Daily pages don't have to be complicated to be impactful. Telling important stories is something that I strive to do in my December Daily and plan to do even more of that this year. How do you handle storytelling in your December Daily? I would love to hear about your plan for this year...
