This is our last post from guest blogger Charity Donaldson. The Clique Kits Gals hope you have enjoyed her as much as we have! A Passion for Printables and Cut Files Part IIII have been really loving making 12x12 layouts with pocket pages as the facing page lately. So for my final project, I decided to go with the flow... and by that I mean the photos that I had printed right after getting this month's kit. Maybe I should talk about that for a bit first. I am really trying to maximize my kit usage. I LOVE getting kits because it keeps me stocked with fresh products that inspire me. I don't know if I ever would have gotten anything from Pinkfresh Studios on my own, but I LOVE the little wooden bits that have come in the kits and LOVE that washi in the Summer School kit (drooling). And in order to do that, this month I went ahead and 1st printed the printables when they arrived (I wound up printing them fully twice and another sheet of them one additional time). This inspired me to go ahead and create a card which can be viewed on my blog. After printing out the printables I took a look at the pics of the kit contents at the website and decided that I would cut out all the cut files in black cardstock (last month I cut them out of the gold foil in the kit as my first step and I USED a ton of them). After the kit arrived in the mail, I went through some photos that I thought I might want to use and printed them out so I had my photos to hand when the urge and time to scrap came together. This appears to be magic. In the past I would forget that I had printables and I may or may not decide to haul out a cutting mat for my cut files and it would irk me that I wasn't using everything I was getting as an exclusive. I mean that's the best reason to be a part of the Clique, right? I went to a comedy show with friends this May and was SO EXCITED to use this awesome kit to scrap the memories of this show. I took a LOT of photos of the performers and printed my favorites. The 12x12 photo is a TERRIBLE phone photo of the four of us who went together and this page came together SO QUICK. I picked out the papers and the embellies seemed to pick themselves out. I used one of the cut files to make my own stencil and made some chevron arrows to add to the embellishments that came with the kit. Now for the facing Pocket Page: I “Plunged Into Watercolors” with the Summer School Class over at Clique Kits this week and was inspired to play with some watercolors to back one of the cut files from Show and Tell, which I also used with a printable, a bit of patterened paper, an epoxy sticker from Pinkfresh Studios and an exclusive Flair Button from Clique Kits. The photo here, I'm not sure if you can see, is of my ticket stubb, they keep the tickets at the door of this venue (though I was told I could ask for one after the show... I didn't.) There was quite a lot I wanted to say about this show. And the people I was with. I also felt like I wanted to record some song lyrics, I know the song now, but that memory could fade and I thought it was a nice addition. I was glad I could fit it all in on a 4x6 card from the DIY Collection by Simple Stories. The 3x4 slots on this pocket page EACH have a photo (told you I took lots). I LOVE that the frames that came with the kit fit in the 3x4 pocket pages (I love the ones by We R Memory Keepers) and I used both pattern paper by Heidi Swapp and I cut a 4x6 card to fill the other pockets, I did a tiny bit of embellishing to each card (have I mentioned how much I love those little printable tabs... they just add so much without being so much to add). And then I was finished... I really REALLY like how that watercoloring set off the cutfile on that top card. I love that I used so much space over on this side for journalling. I also love how the photos look, even though they are just low light phone photos. OH... I forgot to mention. I used the Snapseed app to lighten up the photo on my 12x12 spread. Straight from the phone you couldn't tell who anyone was. If you need a way to improve your phone photos, just google. That's how I found out about Snapseed. I have so enjoyed being the Substitute Teacher this month and I hope that you feel inspired to use your printables and cut files to be more creative and get more use from your kit. As of writing this post I have two full sheets of 12x12 paper left along with some miscellaneous embellishments from my kit. They will probably be long gone by the time this post is live. Happy Scrapping! Keep on pursuing your passion for printables and cut files Charity. The Clique Kits gals are so thrilled to see how you use up your kits and stretch them to the max with the digital exclusives! --xoxo The Clique Kits Gals
