Hi guys! Khristina here sharing my first project with my new December kits. Just as I predicted in the unboxing video, I am using some of the kit goodies interchangeably between the Main Kit and the TN Kit. Do you ever have a page that you just want to keep clean lines and simple embellishing to really let your photos shine? Well, I do! And these were those kinds of photos for me. I really wanted the photos of my son to be the star. aOne of my dear friends, Suzanna Lee, created a sketch for a Facebook group that we both belong to this month and I thought that it was absolutely perfect to use to get the look that I wanted. Let's face it...sometimes, sketches are just the way to get your creativity flowing! Here's the sketch that I decided to work with today... I knew that this sketch would be perfect for the December Kit because the Star Gazer collection has such bright bold colors and patterns. I got right to work layering up three of the patterned papers to create that inside box. Then, I grabbed my sewing machine and added just a little bit of stitched detailing to the top left and bottom right layers. Matting the two photos of my son with a simple border of white yardstick really helped them pop off of that bright blue background. Don't you just love the expression on his face?! Next up was my favorite part...embellishing! I started with all of the blue and green elements that i wanted to add in my three clusters. Then, I grabbed that amazing copper foil "Wonderful" as well as a few copper stars from the TN sticker sheet. Adding a few torn strips of the copper washi tape really added a pop and brought things together. Then, I decided to step a little outside my comfort zone (do you ever do that?) For some reason, the bright orange little accents were calling my name. So....I took a leap and added a touch of bright orange to each of my embellishment clusters. That orange flair badge from the main kit was one of my favorite little pieces and I just adore it on this layout. I'm super excited about the pop that those orange accents added because that was definitely a move outside my typical! Sometimes, taking a chance on something unusual can definitely work out. If you want to see a bit more, please check out the video below. I hope that you loved watching how my sketch-based layout with clean lines and bold pops of color came together today. I hope that you will pull out your kits and try something a little outside your comfort zone this month. I would love to see what you create with your kits!
