Hi Crafty Friends! Khristina here to share my first project with the Clique Kits Design Team. I am the new kid around here so I'm just getting my feet wet and figured sharing a spread in my traveler's notebook was a great way to break the ice.
When I got this kit, I immediately fell in love with all of the colors and the speech bubbles just spoke to me. So, I grabbed just a few supplies and put everything else away...this is often how I start a new kit because otherwise I get overwhelmed with wanting to play with every little thing all at once. Anyone else with me on that one?! Here's the spread I came up with in my daughter's traveler's notebook. Super bright and fun, right?!? In my daughter's traveler's notebook, each page is a letter from me to her talking about some part of her developing personality that I love. In this letter, I talk about how she is always eager for the random unexpected adventures like running thru the fountains in all of her clothes in a brand new city. My favorite part of this layout is that border on the top. I grabbed all of the different textures of speech bubbles including the ephemera, stickers, puffy shaker sticker, and even fussy cut speech bubbles from the patterned paper. Some of them are directly on the background, some are elevated off the page with foam adhesive, and a few overlap onto my patterned paper. I wanted it to look super fun and intentionally random (wait...is that even a thing?!) I finished off my layout with some subtle, simple mixed media which is my favorite kind of mixed media. I grabbed some Dylusions paint in vibrant turquoise and mixed it together with some cheap modeling paste. I used that with a stencil that I made myself on my silhouette out of a cut file of stars that I liked. Adding a little black mist splatters tied the whole look together and gave me a pop of color that I could add some of those puffy sparkly stars to and...done!
Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope that you will also stop by my You Tube channel and check out the process video where I show a little more detail about how this all came together.
Happy Crafting!!
