Hello Lovelies! Theresa here with a layout that demonstrates a fun way to incorporate longer journaling into your layouts. I am working with the November Seneca Falls kit. This is the layout I would like to share with you today!
The Seneca Falls kit is filled with tons of goodies from Amy Tangerine, and her products are always good for boy layouts. This corrugated paper inspired me along with kraft paper die cuts in the kit, so I began with that. The black background might be a little overpowering for some, but gesso is our friend. I added two torn strips of patterned papers at the top of the layout, and then covered my background with gesso.
Gesso is like magic in that it will tie different elements together in a layout. Just remember that perfection is not the goal here. Once the background was dry, I added my cut file. This is the Enjoy Life Love Living cut file from May of this year. I used kraft card stock to cut with, and added patterned paper behind some of the letters.
I added my photo and just a few embellishments around the photo. I didn't want to add too much, because there is a lot going on in the layout already, so just a few leaves and the tops of some of the journaling spots I am also using in the layout.
My story I wanted to tell with this layout was a little longer than just one sentence, so I wrote out my journaling onto several of the spots included in the die cut package. The patterned papers at the top of the layout provide an excellent space for the story. My story is of how my son Nick randomly came to me a few weeks ago asking about some place we apparently used to go and get sugar cookies. All he could remember about it was that they were laid out on big platters. We talked a little about it and I remembered that when I was pregnant with his sister, we would go to a bakery in the next town over as a reward for his good behavior. He was three at the time! So we went back to get him his favorite cookies from his favorite bakery.
These stories are exactly why we love scrapbooking so much! I promise, if you are a mom, you are having an impact on your kiddos and they are remembering fondly the traditions and special things you do for them. Keep on being awesome! Here is one more look at my layout for today.
Thank you so much for joining me! I hope this inspired you to use your die cuts and the corrugated card stock in your Seneca Falls kits! See you soon!
