Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing a layout focusing on a story I want to tell using the July TN kit. My parents' dog absolutely loves to go swimming in their pool. She even has her own special floaty just for dogs that has a thick protective layer on top to help dogs get traction and prevent them from puncturing the float with their nails! She will sit on the float all afternoon if you let her! The July kits are chalk full of pool/water goods so I thought what better kit to document this story with!
I started with a piece of white card stock that I covered with clear gesso. I then took some gelato from my stash in a few different blue/green colors and dipped them in water before smearing them on the background. I then took a spray bottle and added more water to move the gelato around. I also used some Shimmerz spray and Distress Oxide inks to add a few different shades that I didn't have gelatos in and continued to blend all the product until it looked like pool water.
Next I cut out a free cut file for the month of July from The Cut Shoppe (free download on their blog) on my Cricut in black card stock before backing it with patterned papers from the kit and my pictures. I also popped the entire cut file up on craft foam to give the layout some dimension. The TN kit has some super cut paper clips with rubber shapes on the top however as I was doing a layout and the paper clips were quite bulky, I carefully cut the rubber shape away from the paper clip and adhered just the rubber shape to the layout. The POOL shape in the picture above was the clip I took apart and stuck on the page.
Finally I took used some twine from my stash as well as the exclusive printable and embellishments from the TN kit to decorate the rest of my layout. I just love how this layout turned out because it is so bright and summery!
I hope this layout gave you some inspiration to make your own summer/water layouts with the July kits! Have a fantastic weekend and see you all next week when I'm back with a layout with a product focus.
