Happy Monday! Do you guys ever have a scrappy project that you know you want to finish and you love it but it just sits there on the shelf and gets neglected? Well, I do! It just happens to be my 2016 December Daily. It was my first year playing along with December Daily for this very reason. I always start a project like this really strong and then as the month goes on, I start to lose momentum. Raise your hands, girls, anyone else?!? So....when I got my Clique Kits Holiday kit...I was super excited because there are so many great pieces in there and I just knew that it was time to dust off this album and keep plugging away. As I am thinking about December Daily this year (of course, I am doing it again because you know I would never slack off this time!) I know that I really want to try to finish last year's because I truly love everything I have done so far. So today...I grabbed my kit and my photos and finally got to work! My album is a 6x8 size and the page for day 14 has this design with 2-4x6 pockets and 4-3x4 pockets. I started with my three photos and I knew that i had a long story to tell so I needed more space. I flipped thru my kit goodies and these Hey Santa and Very Merry cards just spoke to me. My album colors are mainly black, red, and gold so that might be why I picked these right away. I decided that that "Very Merry" card was just calling out for some hand stitching... My biggest tip with hand-stitching on layouts is to make sure to pre-punch your holes. This prevents a lot of ripping of the paper and saves a bunch of time. I would say that the sticking on this card took me about 20 minutes or so to finish. Then, it was just a matter of adding a few embellishments...a doily here, some star sequins there, and I attached most of my ephemera with my tiny attacher which is a common thread throughout my entire December Daily album. Then...it was time to tell the story but I had used up all of my pockets. No problem at all! This adorable Santa card from the kit was perfect for journaling in a fun way. I just punched a couple of holes and it sits as an insert in the middle of my page. I have several of these throughout my DD album and I just love the interactive look! I'm still plugging away over here...hoping to have 2016 done before 2017 starts! Are you still working on your December Daily? Do you always finish it in December? Maybe you have never tried it before and this is your year?! Good luck to you and enjoy this kit...there are loads of great little additions in there!
