May Student of the Month: Sophie Sim Lawrence

Stay Gold…(This is) a page dedicated to my son, Seth. All about staying gold - a phrase I really love. I like how the gold foil paper in the kit lends so well to the theme of my LO. I used some Sizzix alphabet dies to cut the word "gold", layered the letters three times over to give it some dimension. Another aspect which I had fun with was creating holes through all the triangle elements on the page. Instead of stitching, I left the holes as it, for additional texture.-- Sophie

Wheeeelz...
This layout is about my daughter, Sage, learning to cycle. I love how versatile the kit is - it allows me to cover themes other than travelling. Notice the track marks on the LO? I took a lego piece, inked it and "drove" it round the page. --Sophie
 

"This is a pop-up card. For the insert, I hand cut an arrow, used the same stenciling technique on the main arrow and included a few bits of washi tape for fun. That smiley face sticker in the kit was the perfect embellishment for this card's message."

Chin Up Card...
I love to create cards with whatever "leftovers" I have from a LO. This card was created after "Stay Gold" was completed. Using a stencil, I sprayed ink on the right hand of the card and used the outline from the alphabet sticker sheet to created the word "UP". The yellow twine was found as part of the packaging in my kit. I coated it with some glue and when it dried, it was slightly stiff and could be shaped in whatever fashion I wanted. I used bits of the print paper that were left from creating the triangles in "Stay Gold" for additional dimension in this card. Similar embellishments were chosen here -stars, staples, twine, washi tape arrows and gold foil. By sticking to a similar concept, it saves me time wondering if elements would work together. --Sophie

It is obvious from your narrative that you enjoyed working with Field Trip and it shows in every tiny detail of your layouts and card.  In her bio, Sophie mentioned that she had a little side hobby of designing pop-up cards and it was super fun to see her creativity and ingenuity in action! As the kit packer of the month, I was tickled to see that Sophie also actually used some of the little extras in the thank you gift in the kit like that little smiley emoticon sticker and the "Like" tab.
