Inspired by Pops of Color: Pantone 7563

 Hi friends! Gia here with an "Inspired by" post and 12 x 12 layout. Today I want to talk a little bit about accent colors. Accent colors are like when you decorate a room with an eye pleasing color palette and then BOOM there it is...the throw pillow with just a POP of unexpected color! A game I love to play for inspiration is to pick a color and type it into the search bar in Pinterest and see what it brings up.  Our eyes are magnetically drawn in to the images with colors in certain proportions. The dominant color is important of course. But then there are the harmonious colors used with it in lesser amounts, and finally the finishing touch...that statement accessory. You get the idea!

I knew I wanted to make a scrapbook page of my fashionista granddaughter Kaia and I was inspired by the Thickers phrases in Amy Tangerine's Late Afternoon collection from the September Song Base Kit and pulled out the "Sweeter than Honey" to use as my title.  I also pulled out the layered felt butterfly embellishments that were included in the kit and the Paige Evans Go the Scenic Route floral ephemera. My inspiration was beginning to form into an idea for a messy mixed media background with Bad Girls Couture Haute Mess Texture Paste and a stencil. To add color to the background, Shimmerz pink stiletto Coloringz was perfect. I used a Tim Holtz distress oxide ink for the honey accents.

There is really nothing difficult or time consuming about this layout...no hard work, no need for technology or electricity even. All of the magic is in the color which is layered in from background texture to the last embellishment- a faux wax seal by Maggie Holmes from one of last years fall kits (Gaia).
