Hi crafty friends! Rita here with a new project. This time I made a coptic bound mini album as a gift for someone special to use as a photo album. One of my resolutions for this year is to stop hoarding and use all my stuff. And one great project for using a lot of papers and embellishments is making a book or mini album. For this project I used all the papers I had left from the Paige Evans "Go the Scenic Route" collection. You can find them in the shop here. I also added different sized vellum paper here and there to mix it up and add some fun accents. Also I've learned that it's really important to use good tread, in this case: wax thread. It makes binding a book so easy.
I've watched different tutorials on making a coptic binded book, and I wanted to share with you a tutorial that explained it really well and is by far my most favorite. I made my album watching this video and it was so easy to follow. It's by Sea Lemon and you can find it on youtube.
For my cover I used (recycled) cardboard from a package and painted it blue with acrylic paint. I love that the color matches the colors of the embellishments. As you can see I already chose the theme for the photo album. I had a special trip in 2014 in mind that definitely needs to get documented. The book size is about 6x4 inch.
Here you can see how I incorporated the vellum. I had some photos from that trip and added them to the album. Almost all pages are still "untouched" though, so the gifted just has to put the photos in.
Down below you can see how I added some little details like a punched out circle.
I'm happy how this little book turned out and I can't wait to give it away. I hope you feel inspired to get crafty and use up your stash, so you can make room for new awesome collections.
