Grow through what you go through | Rachel Lowe

Hey everyone Rachel here! Today I have a layout to share which has a special meaning. When Covid-19 hit my daughter was in New Zealand, Australia swiftly closed its borders as did each state within Australia. This has meant we have been separated for many months now and she has faced difficulties such as losing her job and her studies interrupted. So this layout was created with her in mind and I chose this quote 'Grow through what you go through' as it seemed apt.

Before adding any elements to my page I cut in black the hand with flowers in black, I positioned it and then lightly sprayed some pink and black where the floral bunch was going to be. I then set about paper backing the flowers and nails on the hand. As you can see when I attached I left the black long leaves so they would lift a little creating a 3D effect.

I had picked my theme and quote before creating this layout, I have used some PinkFresh Studio small puffy alphas and to create visual interest I used many different coloured letters.

I almost always border when I have a large white cardstock base paper, in this instance I cut it to 11x11 inches and used a floral paper for the border, keeping the floral theme flowing through my layout. I chose a photo of my daughter and with intent only framed 3/4 of her face for impact. I used a pretty floral frame from the collection and attached with foam tape to add height.

I added a fringe yellow strip to the bottom border strip to draw your eye to my phrase sentiments which are as important in meaning as is my title. I finished this off with a row of machine stitching.

The longer I scrapbook the more I am focusing on the actual meaning of what I am doing, not just creating something pretty but creating something meaningful and even a little therapeutic. Thank you for stopping by today and I wish you all good things in these challenging times.
