Hi CK friends! It's Jodie with you today, and I have a travellers' notebook spread to share with you featuring one of the beautiful kits from earlier in 2018, the April Winter Park kit. For the left side I've used one of the darker papers from the Maggie Holmes Flourish collection, and for the right side, had a play with some easy peasy mixed media. If you've been on the fence about trying mixed media on your projects, this is a great technique to start out with. All you need is a stencil (I'm using the one from the September Travellers' Notebook kit), and an ink that works with the colour palette of your project. I used some washi tape to hold down both the stencil and my page so that it didn't move about, and then used an applicator to apply the ink over the stencil. You'll need to reposition the stencil to cover the entire page, so take a moment to check the pattern lines up after you move it. And voila! You have a beautiful custom mixed media page. The paper on the left is definitely on the dark side, so I pulled some dark ephemera elements to balance the right side. I also I also loved the art deco frame from the ephemera pack and used that to add my journalling to. I love this quote and the reminder to always be grateful for the things we have. I'm very blessed to have my 87 year old Grandma still in my life and I wanted to document how grateful I am for that, so this quote was a must on my spread! To finish up my layout I added a few pretty pink elements to the right page, that are mostly stickers from the sticker sheet. This also ties in with the pink in the patterned paper on the left page, and creates balance for the whole spread. I hope I've inspired you to pull out your inks and stencils, and try some easy mixed media. Thanks for stopping by today!
