Hi Friends, Theresa here with an art journal layout to share with you! I was so excited to see the lovely Tehuana kit featuring Frida Kahlo, who is one of the most inspiring artists and I couldn't wait to make my own page with it. I hope you are inspired by this layout, and will have fun creating something for yourself - there is one caveat though. I've begun my page with an abandoned background, and I hope you will be inspired to go back to one of your abandoned layouts, if you have one, and pick up where you left off. Follow along with my process video below! Thank you so much for watching! You can purchase many of the products I've used in our shop through the following links: Clique Kits Tehuana Kit Stamp Set by Hapi Little Fox called Pieces of Me The Crafter's Workshop Stencil

Happy weekend friends! Today I have a really pretty fall layout to share with you using Fancy Pants Design's Lake Life Collection. There are so many beautiful elements in this collection and this collection paired up nicely with the photos I used! The ephemera pack is my absolute favorite! Just look at them. They are so beautiful...I need more. I created the tags at the top of the layout using metal dies from Elle's Studio. Metal dies come in handy at times... we have some available in the shop...Come grab a few dies for your desk project, by clicking here. I used a dark evergreen alcohol marker to color in the wooden tree embellishment. Then I glued some rhinestones on top of it to make it pretty. I added more embellishments below the photo and lots of stamping! Stamps are a must have too... especially for those layouts that you don't really have much to write about...you can use stamps to help tell your story. What do you think? It's super cute, right!? I am so pleased with how this layout turned out. Grab your Lake Life Sampler Kit today before they are gone! Thank you for visiting today and I hope you have a great weekend!
Hello crafty friends! Rita here again with a new project. This time I was in the mood to make a chunky mini album about our recent day trip to St. Gallen. And the best thing (apart from documenting this day and printing out all the photos!) is: I got to use up (almost) all my Clique International stash (to make room for more!) lol Brace yourselves! There are more than 15 photos waiting for you, so here we go... St. Gallen, founded in the 7th century, is a swiss city and represents the center of the eastern Switzerland. It's not far from Lake Constance (and the german border), so we made a short trip to visit this cute city. The main tourist attraction is the Abbey of Saint Gall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I also loved to see all the old (timber-framed) houses. So pretty! It was nice to roam the streets and enjoy the atmosphere. On this day there were so many beautiful wildflowers everywhere, so I probably made more photos than I should. I used leftover patterned paper, stickers and stamps (all from the Clique International shop!) and I will link all the available products down below. I included some pockets here and there for leftover photos. Here I used the journaling pockets from Pinkfresh Studio. They have the perfect size for such an album. The size of this album is 4,25x6 inch by the way. The patterned papers I had were from differend companies, but I tried to match them as good as I could by color or pattern. St. Gallen was also full of flowers, my soft spot, so of course I had to make even more flower photos. And the "from where I stand" photo is a must. lol I love how the two papers compliment each other (Altenew on the left, Pinkfresh Studio on the righ). Some of the papers I used were from a 6x6 inch paper pad, so the back was blank. Sometimes I glued two of them together and used the space between them as a pocket for journaling card or more photos. I added another Pinkfresh Studio journaling pocket on the left. The delicate flowers on the right are designed by Alexandra Renke. And where there are flowers, there are butterflies. So of course I had to add some butterfly stickers too. Here I stitched the butterflies to the page. Such a cute little detail! I added two of them on the next page and made a flip page, so I could incorporate more photos. You can find the butterflies in the Sequin and Shaker Mix "Santa Fe" in the shop. Stamps can transform a white background into a cool pattern. Here I used the stamp set by Heidi Swapp which is included in the Storyline Chapters Album Bundle. Next, more flowers! lol Here I used the stencil from the Mesa Add-on Kit and love how the structure paste adds a little dimension and a cool effect to the page. I hope you enjoyed to take a look into my eclectic mini album and feel inspired to stashbust and make your own. Last but not least I want to link all the (still available) products I used. Thanks for stopping by today and happy crafting!

Rita here with a new layout in my Storyline Chapters Notebook. It was definitely not intentional, but after last month's blog post I again have a layout documenting flowers to share with you today! Maybe it's the season - but I'm little obsessed with flowers at the moment. For this layout I used the "Trail Guide" paper from the Heidi Swapp "Carefree" collection as my background paper and added some patterns with the Flora and Fauna Texture stamp set and different Distress Oxide colors. I also used the Heidi Swapp Stamp Set from the Storyline Chapters Album Bundle which you can find here and here. I used the "Tag" stamp to fill a whole 6x8'' paper and used acrylic paint on top. Afterwards I cut them apart and arranged them on the patterned paper. I love how the pink pops and compliments the color of the roses. To add some more highlights I used the new stamp set by Amy Tangerine from the Sao Paolo Kit. It's still one of my favorite stamps right now! Let's take a look at the full layout. I hope you feel inspired to use your stamps and paints to create a fun and playful layout. I had a blast making it. Thanks for stopping by today and see you soon!
Hi friends! Dana here today sharing the layout I created for the Clique International Stamp-tember Event which is happening in The Clique Facebook Group. There is a different stamping challenge posted each weekend of the month. All challenges are open until September 30th with prize winners for each. We'd absolutely love to have you join us! I used the Limited Edition Ciao Bella Wind Beneath My Wings Kit for this project, plus the Catherine Pooler Explore and Learn Series Flutter Bundle Kit and the Flora + Fauna More Stamp-tember Add-On Kit. All of these kits are currently on sale and only available while supplies last from the Clique Shop. I'm primarily a 12x12 scrapbooker. I have to admit that I don't use stamps and dies as much as I could because they are generally on the small side and are designed more for card making. I was thrilled when I received the Catherine Pooler Wings of Joy Stamp and Die Sets. This butterfly is stamp is over 5 inches across which means that it is a great size for use on 12x12 layouts. I love butterflies and recently snapped a photo of one that flew into my back porch last week. These stamps and dies were the perfect way to complement my photo. I used the stamps and dies together to make a layered butterfly embellishment that I designed after to gorgeous Vicki Boutin stickers in the Wind Beneath My Wings Kit. Dimensional Butterfly Embellishment Tutorial Step 1: Spray a piece of watercolor paper with water. Press the Catherine Pooler Minis onto a craft mat to release some ink onto the work surface. Use a water brush to pick up the ink and spread it onto the wet watercolor paper. Blend and splatter the ink onto the paper until it is covered. Let dry. Step 2: Use the Catherine Pooler Wings of Joy Butterfly Die to cut a butterfly from the watercolor paper. Set aside. Step 3: Apply Catherine Pooler Midnight Ink onto the Wings of Joy Butterfly Stamp and press onto a piece of vellum. Let dry. Step 4: Use the Catherine Pooler Wings of Joy Butterfly Die to cut the stamped butterfly from the vellum. Step 5: Use a permanent gold pen to color the body of the vellum butterfly. Attach the vellum butterfly to the watercolor butterfly base using a piece of 3D Foam. Bonus Butterfly: Use the Flora + Fauna Delicate Butterfly Die to cut a piece of patterned paper and a piece of vellum. Apply adhesive to the patterned paper butterfly body, line up the vellum butterfly die-cut over the top, and press to attach. Fold the vellum wings up towards the center of the butterfly body to separate the wings, creating a 3D embellishment. ![]() I couldn't resist using the rest of the stamps in the kits. I'm a patterned paper addict and I rarely use cardstock, so I used the stamps from the kits on top of my patterned papers to add additional prints to this page. The Catherine Pooler Minis work great with stencils! I sponged Fiesta Blue Ink over a stencil to add more butterflies to the background of this layout. I created my own file folder from patterned paper, cardboard, and washi tape. I used both of the small Flora + Fauna stamp sets to add a pretty bright blue flower print to the paper. I wanted to add a contrasting color to the background of my layout to offset the blue. I would usually use a stencil and texture paste for this effect, but used the dot cluster stamp from the Catherine Pooler Wings of Joy Stamp Set instead with the Catherine Pooler Minis Rockin' Red Ink. I love the look! I feel like I should make a note here and mention that the red ink is more of a dark pink. The Wind Beneath My Wings Kit contains paper flowers but doesn't have any leaves. I used two of the small leaf stamps from the Catherine Pooler Wings of Joy Stamp Set with the Catherine Pooler Minis Grass Skirt Ink to add small leaves around each of the paper flowers on this layout. I used one of the sentiments from the Catherine Pooler Wings of Joy Stamp Set to make a small title for the layout. I also added a small sentiment along the bottom of the page that I made from the Kesi'art Thanks Die Set. I hope I have inspired you to use dies and stamps to create large embellishments. And, if you're a cardstock lover, I hope I have opened your eyes to the possibilities of stamping on patterned paper! I'd love to see your take on this challenge so please upload your project in The Clique Facebook Group by the end of the month for your chance to win a prize!

Nicole here with a super fun mixed media layout I created. A few weeks ago, I saw this beautiful layout created by Anett Gelencser and loved how colorful and vibrant the layout is. I am a sucker for circles! She used the Noteworthy collection from Pinkfresh Studio which was the main collection in the Skies of Blue kit. The kit is sold out but the paper is available here. Before I show you how I created the background of my layout, let me share the layout with you! Here is my take on Anett's layout. As you can see, I lifted certain elements from her layout. I did not copy the layout exactly how she created hers. For this layout, I am using the Rainbow Connection Kit and the Rainbow Connection Add-on kit, featuring Vicki Boutin's texture paste. To begin, I cut the patterned paper to measure 8 1/2x11" and a piece of white cardstock to measure 8"x10 1/2". I mounted the white cardstock to the center of the patterned paper. Then, I punched several 2" circles from white cardstock and placed them onto the cardstock, adhering them with glue. I applied a thick layer of white gesso all over the base. It's OK if the circles start popping up at the edges... let them pop up to give the layout more texture and dimension! Next, I added a tiny bit of the paste and mixed it with a water using a paint brush to water down the paste. For this layout, I wanted to see if I could get more of a watercolor effect from the paste. I love how Vicki's mixed media products can be used in a variety of ways! I used a piece of paper towel to lift the excess water from the circles. I splashed some yellow water color all over the back using the end of my brush. Then I tapped a few drops of yellow spray around the background. Once the circles were completely dry, I added my photo and embellishment along with some stamps for my title work and journaling! I hope I inspired you today with my scrap lifted layout and showed you that you can do so much with mixed media products. I love working with mixed media products. They are fun to play with. Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you have a fabulous weekend!
Hi guys! Jodie here with you today with a classic black, white and gold card set. One thing I love about a scrapbooking kit is the ability to pull different elements from it to create a totally different mood in your projects for the month. This card set is completely different to the bright and fun travellers notebook layout and the sweet mixed media style travellers notebook spread that I've created with the November Seneca Falls Main Kit already. The main elements I've pulled from the kit for these cards are the Amy Tangerine Hustle & Heart gold foil die cut specialty paper, the black and white floral paper, and the die cut wreath ephemera piece. I also pulled some essentials from my stash, some white cardstock, black cardstock and a couple of dies. For both cards I used the leafy circle cut file that is the special edition free cut file from the Clique Kits collaboration with Spiegelmom Scraps this week as part of my background. For this card I cut the file in white cardstock on my Silhouette, then trimmed it to the same size as my card. Then I backed each of the leaves with the specialty paper, and adhered it to my card. The November Clique Kits Colour Kit includes the absolutely gorgeous 'Grateful' stamp set from Avery Elle. To create my sentiment I've stamped the Grateful stamp on white cardstock, curving it a little bit so that it fits into the space left by the wreath once it is layered over the top of it. I've also created a shaker pocket with some foam tape and sequins from my stash and some packaging from the kit, and layered the wreath from the ephemera pack (which I've turned upside down so it matches my theme for this project) over the top of that. Then I die cut a bow from the specialty paper and adhered it to the top of the wreath with some gold thread, and called this card done! My second card is really clean and simple, but I love the contrast to it. This time I used the same leafy circle cut file cut from white cardstock, and trimmed it down to half the card size, on the diagonal. I trimmed the black and white paper to be the other half of that diagonal, and edged it with some scalloped black cardstock. I stamped the Thankful sentiment from the Avery Elle stamps onto a die cut circle that I popped up on foam tape, and added a few black splatters. I adore these scripty font sentiment stamps from Avery Elle and I can see me using them a lot in my projects. I was really impressed with how crisply they stamp on the page. I die cut another bow from the specialty gold foil paper, slipped a paper clip over the die cut circle and adhered the bow.
I love the contrast of the black and white with the texture of the cut file and pops of gold in these cards. Even if you didn't get a chance to check out the collaboration with Clique Kits and Spiegelmom Scraps this week, you can still pop by the Clique Facebook Group and grab this gorgeous free leafy cut file. Thanks so much for dropping by today! Aloha!! It's Hannah with you here today!! It feels like it's been a while since I have been on the blog. I have missed everyone. I have missed playing with my regular kits because as December comes around I get into the swing of December Daily and forget to grab for the regular kits. Are you like that too? I thought it would be fun to show a little bit about how my December Documenting looks when I am not making a spread with a photo that is about or related to Christmas. Many times the pictures I take in December are just your typical day to day snapshots. Many times using these photos with christmas or holiday themed papers just seems weird to be honest. Today I am using both the main and the traveler's notebook kits combined. These kits both feature Dear Lizzy Stargazer. It's bright and cheerful. I am really loving this kit. Let's talk a little bit about something else else.... How to make a Traveler's Notebook page that is filled with layers and goodness but isn't bulky. It can be really hard not to add everything into your notebook. I am the queen of layers so it is always a challenge to tone down this creative spark to have it fit into the little package. Traveler's Notebook's are very trendy right now. The are pocket sized (OK, maybe pocket book sized). They are often filled with so many pages. But once you start adding papers, embellishments, stickers and little bits from our collections and kits those pages spring up and can often make the notebooks really full. I have a few that I don't even want to finish because they are so full. There are however some things you can do to get amazing spreads in your Traveler's Notebook's without adding too much bulk and letting you get the most out of each notebook you get. Tip 1: Use mixed media for your background whenever you can. No matter what kind of paper you have in your notebook just by adding a little paint or spray you can transform your neutral background into something textured and colorful (if you want it colorful). For this spread, I used a fine line bottle with thinned paint and drew circles. They are crazy and not perfect and I love them. They fit my daughter's personality and that is always a neat thing when you can connect those types of elements on your spreads. I used various colors that match the papers and my daughter's shirt. These Shimmerz watercolor Inklingz paints add a punch with little work. In my bottom circle I stamped with the Dear Lizzy stamper the same word repeating. I think this effect is really cool and adds some varying tones without much effort. Adding stamps to you background spread with or without media can really give you a cool pattern or design depending how you stamp them on your background. They don't add bulk to your page so they are really perfect for Traveler's Notebooks. Tip 2: From the beginning choose a dimension level you are comfortable with. Everyone has different preferences for dimension on a page, and especially Traveler's Notebooks. Picking how think you want your page to be and sticking with that is key. On this spread I choose the thin wood pieces from Paige Evans in the kit. They are lightweight so that is also a positive because it doesn't tug at the pages or leave weird indentations once the album is settling. Using this piece as my guide I choose a few papers from the 6x6 pad to layer under my photo. If you were worried about the layers being to thick use only thin strips behind the photo. Use washi tape as a layer behind the photo or use only one sheet of patterned paper. You can always add a couple of stickers or die cuts behind the photo for layers and it won't be too bulky. I love this library card pad from Dear Lizzy as a layer. The metallics of the paper is striking but this paper is really thin too. Tip 3: Instead of adding lots of embellishments add color or alter the embellishments you have added. On my page I added more Shimmerz paints to a couple of the wood pieces. I also used a copper paint pen on the wood pieces too. Adding metallic in general to a page can go a long way. A little bit of sparkle can do a lot for your spread too. How about using sequins to your Traveler's Notebooks to add sparkle and dazzle without being heavy or thick. Tip 4: Use die cuts as your title or part of your title. Thickers tend to be heavier or thick so swapping out some of the words with a die cut can really keep the thickness down. You could also, if you are comfortable with your own handwriting, hand script part of your title too. I mixed my title up with the Amy Tan Thickers from the main kit and then added that wonderful die cut. I let my title take up the bottom of my spread. Keeping this bottom simple and minimal, I only have layers on one side. I added stickers to the photo and embellishments to add interest without being really thick. Tip 4: This is my last tip for today, Don't be afraid to layer things near the edges of the pages. Many times when I am building layers I let the papers hang off page a bit. By doing this, I am spreading out the paper over more space longwise instead of height wise. Besides it really makes your notebooks look homemade and more like a journal you might find, something you used to make as a teenager when you added pictures to your journals with real ephemera. Keeping this tactile element on your page really adds something special, like baker's twine in a tag or stitching on an embellishment cluster before to adhere it down on the page. I hope you are inspired to try some new techniques to keep your Traveler's Notebook's bulk free. Can't wait to see your December Lemonade Kit spreads in the Clique FB group too.
I look forward to seeing you tomorrow!! Aloha!! Happy FriYAY!! It's Hannah with you this fine day. Today I am using the November Cornucopia Traveler's Notebook Kit. I am using it in an unexpected way too. I don't know if you are like me at all, but December Scrapbooking is on my mind already. I am thinking of all the products I want to use and the system I want to use to document my December Days. There is so much to think about and prepare especially if you want the project to be successful. I wanted to share a few simple tips before the busy holiday season is upon us so you too can be successful and you can create a precious keepsake for your family to enjoy for years to come. My first biggest and most important tip I have is to have a journal handy throughout the whole month. I am not sure if I can state how crucial this tip is. Many of us have many more tasks, plans and things that place in December. I wish I could say you will remember every little detail, but you probably won't. By keeping a journal handy and nearby, you can jot down the moments and memories you want to remember. Then later when you are working on your album you will have those moments already documented and at your finger tips. It will help cut down the time you need to actually get your album completed. I am going to use a TN this year. This insert that I am using is the TN that came with the Autumn cover from the Store. Besides being gorgeous and so soft. The cover comes with two inserts. One insert is a calendar and the other insert is a simple grid design. This makes it perfect for just journaling. I will be stamping the date with my roller date stamp on each page and using one to two pages to just brain dump the things from that day that I want to remember later. When I go to make my album I can then decide what stories I want to add to the album and which ones aren't that important. Either way it's documented, because I will add this insert with the album. That way if my family wants to read all the details they can. I have started using this system for my Project Life and it has been a life saver. For the cover I added a fun stamp from Melo Milo that has tons of holiday themed images. I used a simple black dye ink from One Canoe Two, which is my favorite black ink for stamping right now. I mixed the stamp with the block tile alphas from the TN kit. In Photoshop I resized one of the 3x4 exclusive printable journalling cards. This is one of my favorite parts to getting these exclusive printable pieces, is that they come in PNG format. They can easily be modified to fit the project I am doing. Resizing in photo shop is so simple. I even added font to the image for my title page. Then it is all ready be to saved and printed right at home on thicker cover stock. My next tip is to change things up, add non christmas or holiday themed pieces to your December projects. This will help when you are in the middle of the season and slowly getting bored of all the holiday themed papers and pieces. It will add a bit of breathing room on your projects. When you are done with your album you can easily add those items back into your stash. Using non traditional and holiday themed products can help you use up some things form your stash in your album and maybe even help you not over buy things you might not use. You can spend your money on the special holiday themed items you really want. Tip number three... Prep as much as you can ahead of time. Make a homemade kit or buy a kit premade. Pick the album type and start getting all the pages you need ready before December comes. I actually suggest doing it at the beginning of November before all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season even starts. That way you have time to buy more products if you need too. This also gets you in the mood to take on a big project like documenting the month of December. Being prepared ahead of time will allow you to spend less time putting the album together at the end. Especially if you are trying to do it in December. This is my cover page. I wanted to journal to myself a bit, and what better than to use a gold gel pen. So fun and festive. I repeated the stamping as the cover on a white doily. I also stamped some acorns on the doily from another stamp set I have in my stash. By layering journalling cards, tags, doilies, glassine bags and a paper strip, I have created a focal point. I wanted to have a place where I had a lot of texture going on to balance the busy and strong colors of the opposite side. I kept the layers pretty simple with lots of white space. I love how this journaling card from Pretty Little Studio Tales and Dreams is peaking out from the glassine bag. I love these colors too. They aren't your traditional colors of December but they are loud and a break from all the holiday inspired colors. I think this will be perfect for me to want to grab this TN to record and jot down memories at the end of the day. I also fussy cut a flower from the patterned paper in the TN kit. I added it on the tag with a label and a 2x2 square from the Tales and Dreams Collection that is in the kit. Because the tag is tucked in the bag it really helps keep the patterns muted. The last tip I want to leave with you today is to also remember you don't have to document each day either, you are in charge of what and how you do a project like this. You do it how it makes you happy. There are so may examples of how you can document December and your holiday season. Have fun with it, enjoy the process. I added some simple embellishments and stickers to some of my pages. This will help break up the journaling and make this TN a little bit more than just plain. Though that would definitely fine, I know I get more inspired to write when I have some thing cute on the pages.
The exclusive November TN printables are a fun touch. By adding a sticker to the printable, it makes the embellishment more complex without adding to many layers. I really want to try not to add to much bulk to this TN journal since it is going to go with my December album. Also don't forget to check out the Store for any Holiday inspired items and add ons. There are exclusive printables and really festive holiday themed Traveler's Notebook's too. See you around next week, my scraps friends!! |
