Hello Clique Kits fans! Erica here with you today to share a pocket page layout I did yesterday. Baseball season has started which means my nights will be spent at the baseball fields from now until June! This year we have two of our kids playing so that will be 4 games a week! Crafting time will be cut short for this mama but that is ok with me! Clique Kits has put together kits that make creating quick and simple with coordinating and exclusive products! Today I want to share with you what I created yesterday late afternoon right before my son's first baseball game! I have had these photos of our two youngest boys sitting on my desk and I knew this kit would be a perfect match for the photos! Debutante has some great black and whites to use as neutrals but also has great pops of color! The color I wanted to really make pop was the yellow from the swing in the photos! I knew this kit had a great yellow flair badge that went perfectly and just happens to have the word PLAY on it and the heart shaped colorblock wood veneers with yellow from Pinkfresh Studio are also a perfect match! Here is a look at my completed pocket page layout! 
This style pocket page has room for 4 4x6 photos or cards. I used two of the 4x6 Clique Kits exclusive journal cards for the top two spots and for the bottom left corner I created my own card using pattern paper from the kit and a white piece of cardstock. The last 4x6 spot I ended up using the two 3x4 Clique Kits exclusive journal cards together to create one 4x6! I love how it looks! These Clique Kits exclusive journal cards are not your typical cardstock journal cards. They are nice sturdy journal card with a bit of a shine to them! The quality is amazing and our very own Lacey Gasper has designed each and every one! I used a regular thin point sharpie to add my journaling and there is no smearing or smudges! This kit is great for both girl and boy themed projects. Adding pops of pink instead of the yellow would have made for a very cute girly page for photos of my daughter! I love that this kit offers the great black and whites and the colorful embellishments so that you can add pops of color where ever your heart desires! The possibilities are endless with this kit!  It's a 'howdy' kind of day today! I think it's because I pulled out my cowgirl boots for the first time in awhile. Love them! In case you didn't figure it out yet, it's Jody here today! Speaking of pulling things out that I haven't used in awhile ..... I finally printed my Christmas photos, finally! Yup, I'm scrapbooking Christmas in April. Why not! There really shouldn't be any rules about this type of thing in scrapbooking, at least not in my text book. There's a time and place for chronological order, but not here my friends. Not when you're photos and papers inspire you to create with them, no matter what your subject or season happen to be. On the note of breaking some rules today, I've created something for Christmas with our Spring kit, Debutante... What?! Yup, rule breaker alert! It's totally OK to use 'non-Christmas' papers to create a holiday project, in fact we highly encourage it!! I know some of my friends need a permission slip to do this sometimes, which is completely understand. I've been stuck in the "I have to scrapbook in order" rut, but no more. Case in point >>>> look below! Does this black and white paper look familiar? It's the 'B' side to this Amy Tangerine paper, Soul Mate, which is in our Debutante Kit!! A few weeks back, I did a post about whether you were an 'A' or 'B' and shared that I'm mostly a B........side scrapper that is. So, which would you choose of the Soul Mate paper?  Here's my Christmas layout using the Soul Mate paper. You'll notice a difference in the color of the two images. This is just due to one being a digitized image from the website and the other is an actual photo. So, there's nothing wrong with your eye, at least today. I love that our kits are colorful, but also have a great balance of neutrals. This is the beautiful thing about our kits peeps! All it took to get this layout into the holiday spirit were a few red elements. Easy peasy. My 'go-to' red string is by May Arts, which I also carry in my Etsy Shop here. It's a perfect 1/32 of an inch thick and adds just the right pop of color and texture on any project I'm working on. Next, I added some red metallic sequins, a bingo chip and a heart from Freckled Fawn (thank you again Gia!). I also added lots of die cuts from the exclusive cut files which came with the kit subscription. Speaking of those cut files & printables, they should be our Clique's email boxes right now!  Here are a few close ups too :) I love how the May Arts burlap string looks like it's floating across my layout. If you're wondering how in the world I attached the May Arts burlap string, it's pretty simple. I used a few daps of Aileen's Tacky Glue in several sections and let it dry for a bit. This is seriously one of my favorite glues everyone. It's great because it dries clear, not expensive at all and is thick so it really holds onto your embellishments such as wood veneers, sequins and ribbon! You can find it at any hobby store and use your coupon.    I hope you were inspired today! Go look at your Debutante kit, or through your stash, at those non-holiday papers. Now, really take a good look at them and I'm willing to bet that you can see them in a different light. I know you all have papers that you can totally use for those holiday photos even though your paper isn't specifically holiday themed!

Welcome back to the blog for another day of Debutante Week ! Today you are here in the Art Studio with me, Gia! Do you love color? I do !! We live in such a colorful world, and the fact that there are so many possible hues makes me giddy just thinking about it! Not only can color make me giddy, it can make me feel a lot of different things! Warm or cool, tranquil or energetic, hopeful or sad, whatever the mood-there's a color palette that "speaks" its language visually. Thanks to the internet and websites like Pinterest, it is so easy for creative types to find visual inspiration nowadays, and scrapbookers are no exception. I decided to show you how I used a mood board to create a layout. 
What could be more fun than a little girl twirling in a twirly dress in Springtime? How about two little girls! Here are the three adjectives I used to guide me in my search for an inspiring visual. 1. carefree 2. vibrant 3. sweet And here is what I came up with:

Even though the dominant color in this layout is my current favorite neutral (grey) with lots of black and white, the colors from the "Pool Party" palette were easy to pull from my kit as they are found throughout Amy Tangerine's Plus One collection and really add that "pop" of color.
Here is my supply list for this page: From Debutante kit: Amy Tangerine Plus One patterned papers, Freckled Fawn acrylic arrow, Freckled Fawn glitter star pick, Clique Kits yellow "Play" flair, black triangle/arrow washi tape (which I sliced in thirds to give it a 'lighter' feel), Amy Tangerine Thicker words, yellow sequins, and Pinkfresh Studio yellow color block heart wood veneer. And a few extras: Handmade crochet heart gifted to me by Lacey Igo Gasper (if we all beg maybe she will make these available to the Clique all the time!) Additional washi tape by Papyrus. Acrylic camera embellishment (exclusive Amy Tangerine embellishment from a class kit.) Pink camera paper clip and transparency 3 x 4 cards from Freckled Fawn. Silver striped vellum from Stampin Up and resin bird from Close to My Heart. Yesterday, Lacey showed us some ideas for using sketches for inspiration for pocket page cards. Hello everyone!! Jody here for my first Clique Kits post... whoot whoot! I want to thank you for joining us on this amazing memory keeping journey! I couldn't be more excited to be sharing this venture with Gia, Lacey and Erica. For my first CK post I'm giving you a play-by-scrapping-play on adding layers to your layouts! Don't be afraid, it's actually pretty easy. Since many of us scrappers are visual people, I'll get down to the layout right away. I used a basic rule in design of gallon-quart-pint. No, I'm not baking here! This means the paper, or color, that makes up the majority of your layout is the gallon, the paper/color that fills the next highest amount of space is the quart and the least is the pint. To create this layout I started with this very close up photo of my daughter Hannah. I love how this picture really focuses on her eyes, which are her daddy's eyes, I wanted to create a frame around her photo and add some dimension as well. So, I grabbed a few papers from the Maggie Homes Flea Market and My Minds Eye Cut & Paste collections. These both have a wide variety of pretty florals, stripes, dots, wood grains, ombre and more. You can really see the variety in this layout! 
I thought this "paint sample" looking paper was very cool for the background and could almost capture Hannah's eye color which goes between hazel and grey. Next I used a few larger scraps I had left over from previous projects, the small floral and the pink dots to start creating my photo mat. Before I actually tape or glue anything down, I place my photo and papers about where I think I want them. This is by no means an exact science!! I liked how these papers all worked well together because they pulled colors from the other papers. You can see the aqua blues and the pink in the pretty floral and they just 'work'. To start my layering process, I have an important play in my playbook - DON'T PUT ADHESIVE AT THE EDGES OF YOUR PHOTOS OR PAPERS! That's it really, a very long title for a very easy scrapbooking play. By not putting your adhesive right to the edges of your papers or photos it leaves room to tuck other papers or embellishments in and around your layout. Case in point... I adhered the pretty floral and pink dot papers on top of each other and then later decided I wanted to add the cream graph paper with the torn edge along the bottom of the pink dot. Instead of pulling up the pink dot paper, praying to a higher power not to rip it or my photo, I just slipped the cream graph paper underneath the pink dot with some adhesive already on the backside of it. Much easier right!? 
Another easy way to add layers and dimension to your layouts is by using foam adhesive, a.k.a. pop dots. I think you can guess the name of this scrapbooking play. Yes, it's called Pop It Up. These fabulous little pieces of foam adhesive are my heroes. It may sound a little silly to you, but look at the clouds in the photo above. You can see a shadow under them, like they're really floating on top of the layout. Here's another closer view of those clouds. They just wouldn't be the same if they were adhered flat onto the layout. 
Another fun way to add layers is by using your die cutting tools. I call this play, Tool Time. I created this cute rosette with the Tim Holtz Rosette Die and some chunky glitter from by stash. I hear many of my girlfriends say, "I never use my Big Shot" or "I don't know what to use it for." We have to stop this madness right now!! Erica already gave you some great ideas for using your stencils, the Cricut Craft Room and embroidery kits all in one post! We all fall in love with our crafting supplies & tend to hoard them, but we need to learn to use them. So, when you visit the CK Locker Room we'll be giving you some smart play-by-play ways to rev up your scrapping and get in the game. Check out the glittery rosette below! 
Ok, for my last play of the post... Flip It. By that I mean if something doesn't quite fit or look 'right' in its intended or normal position, turn it upside down or onto one side or the other. Up close, this cluster of embellishments looks like it sits nicely on top of the fabric Maggie Holmes frame. But, take a step back and look again. The frame is actually turned upside down. I didn't like where the teal banners ended up hanging on Hannah's sweet face, but I loved the wood grain fabric frame against the mixture of prints. I just flipped the frame upside down and was totally happy with it! 
So to wrap up today's playbook, we learned what not to do with our adhesive, to incorporate the use of our tools, add dimension by using foam adhesive and flipping embellishments around to maximize their impact. You guys are already scrapbooking all stars in my book, just don't be afraid to try out for the team!
