Hello and Happy New Year's Eve to Everyone :-) It's Piroska here today on the Clique International blog, I hope you all had a very merry Christmas holiday and now you are ready to say goodbye to this ...(you name it) year. Let me show you a layout of our Christmas Eve, what was everything but not usual!
Because of the pandemic we couldn't meet my parents, so we celebrated 300 kilometers away from each other, and opened our presents while having a video chat. I have never ever had a Christmas when I did not see my parents... it was heartbreaking when I first realised that this is going to happen this Christmas... But then we decided to celebrate and enjoy it anyway, and had a holly jolly Christmas, no matter what! ;-)
For my layout I first cut the Holly Jolly Christmas cut file of CUT to YOU from white cardstock. I cut it large, because I wanted to use it as a highlight of my page and backed it with some patterned papers of the Mistletoe kit , featuring the Muérdago collection of Mintopia Studio.
For my background I used a white cardstock which I covered with clear gesso first. Then I started to use my Pastel Dreams Prima Confenctions Watercolors, painting with Lemonade, Rose and Sea Dream colours onto it. When it was dry I added some splashes with my Heidi Swapp Color Shine, I used Blush, Seafoam and Gold colours.
When everything was dry, I glued down the cut file on the link side, using heavy cardstock on the back to add some dimension to it. I added the photo on the right, and matted it on some patterned papers of the Muérdago collection.
I added some cut outs and puffy stickers for decoration, and some alphabeth stickers to continue the title. Last I added a self-made macramé Christmas tree for the Crossover challenge of Clique International.
Trying out new things is so much fun! I enjoyed making some macrame trees very much, I'm going to add some to my December Daily album too, it is very addicting ;-) And pairing unusal crafts with scrapbooking is awesome!
I hope you are going to have some creative time in 2021 too! We'll be here to inspire you!
Hello Everyone, it's Piroska here today with my latest post for Clique International. I hope you are all doing well! For my post for today I had a special task, I had to scraplift a layout of one of our followers. Well, I chose a layout of @scrapperinlove, which she made for our October challenge. I love the background and the painted leaves Rossana Lapalombella made, so I thought I give it a try.
So here is Rossana's layout:
And here is mine:
First I used clear gesso on a white cardstock, then after drying I used some watercolours to paint the background. I tried to paint with softer colours, just like Rossana did, altough I wanted to add some red too.
While I let it dry, I handpainted some candy canes and cut them out. I also played with watercolours on a sheet of white cardstock and when it was try, I cut some stars with my 3D star dies set, and pine branches with my Sizzix.
I also cut some stars from the 6x8 patterned paper pad of the Mistletoe kit. Because I missed colours, I matted my photo with some patterned papers.
Then I started to make my layout. I added to photo in the middle, I glued a heavy cardstock underneath to add some dimension to it. I added the branches, the stars and the self-made candy cane cut outs around the photo.
Finally I added my title in the bottom right corner. I used a title sticker from the Simple Stories, and added a candy cane shaker sticker from the Mistletoe Trims Add-on Kit.
What do you think about my scraplift? I am not quite sure whether I like my version. It was far out of my comfort zone, that is for sure! ;-)
