Hi guys! Jodie here with you today, and I'm sharing a travellers notebook spread using the gorgeous November Seneca Falls Main Kit. This kit has a lot of elements that have a black contrast to them, like the floral patterned paper and tag on the right side of my spread. I've played with those elements in this spread, and also brought in the black corrugated cardstock from the kit for the left page. Because the paper on the right page is fairly busy I've kept the embellishment of that side minimal. The unforgettable tag really pops off the page because it has the black contract to it. The only things I added to this page are a word sticker to the side of the tag, and a sweet puffy heart, and I called this side done. To get my journalling to fit on the tag and on the printed lines, I first measure the area I want to journal in. I create a text box in Word that size, and type my journalling (this time in my favourite vintage typewriter font called Typical Writer). Since I know how many lines I want to fill I count these up, then adjust the line spacing until it fills the text box with the right number of lines. From there I usually print a couple of practice pages on copy paper, adjusting the line space until it's just right, and then use some washi tape to hold the tag in place over the top of the journalling where it is printed on the copy paper, and feed it through my printer one more time. I know it sounds like a bit of fussing, but I love the way this type of journalling looks. I tore a corner off the 'sprinkled' paper and adhered it to the edge of my left page. I've then used a couple of strip elements trimmed from the papers and layered them at the same angle at different intervals. The orange and black scallop is trimmed from one of the ephemera pieces. I've then fussy cut the 'you're my fave' banner and adhered it using foam dots for a little dimension. I don't mind using foam tape in my TN spreads because I'm totally okay if my TN albums end up a little chunky. Finally to tie the left and right pages together I fussy cut a cluster of flowers from the same patterned paper as on the right, and tucked it under my photo. I was so happy to get this photo in my TN album, it really captures the fun and cheeky side to my daughter and her boyfriend, and a cheeky story to go with it.
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hello Lovelies! Theresa here with a layout that demonstrates a fun way to incorporate longer journaling into your layouts. I am working with the November Seneca Falls kit. This is the layout I would like to share with you today! The Seneca Falls kit is filled with tons of goodies from Amy Tangerine, and her products are always good for boy layouts. This corrugated paper inspired me along with kraft paper die cuts in the kit, so I began with that. The black background might be a little overpowering for some, but gesso is our friend. I added two torn strips of patterned papers at the top of the layout, and then covered my background with gesso. Gesso is like magic in that it will tie different elements together in a layout. Just remember that perfection is not the goal here. Once the background was dry, I added my cut file. This is the Enjoy Life Love Living cut file from May of this year. I used kraft card stock to cut with, and added patterned paper behind some of the letters. I added my photo and just a few embellishments around the photo. I didn't want to add too much, because there is a lot going on in the layout already, so just a few leaves and the tops of some of the journaling spots I am also using in the layout. My story I wanted to tell with this layout was a little longer than just one sentence, so I wrote out my journaling onto several of the spots included in the die cut package. The patterned papers at the top of the layout provide an excellent space for the story. My story is of how my son Nick randomly came to me a few weeks ago asking about some place we apparently used to go and get sugar cookies. All he could remember about it was that they were laid out on big platters. We talked a little about it and I remembered that when I was pregnant with his sister, we would go to a bakery in the next town over as a reward for his good behavior. He was three at the time! So we went back to get him his favorite cookies from his favorite bakery. These stories are exactly why we love scrapbooking so much! I promise, if you are a mom, you are having an impact on your kiddos and they are remembering fondly the traditions and special things you do for them. Keep on being awesome! Here is one more look at my layout for today. Thank you so much for joining me! I hope this inspired you to use your die cuts and the corrugated card stock in your Seneca Falls kits! See you soon! Hello Lovelies, I am Theresa Moxley with you today sharing a pocket page layout using the September Farmhouse kit. Our focus for this week is Story, and pocket pages are my favorite way to tell our family stories on a weekly basis. Here is my layout. I am currently working through our 2013 album and this kit was perfect for a layout from March of that year. We had a few photos of spring beginning to show in the yard, our beloved cat (who is sadly no longer with us), and sports activities from that time. This layout quickly became a two page spread and I loved filling these fun pockets! Whenever I am working on a pocket page layout, I always begin with the date card. This is a great place to start if you ever have blank page syndrome - I always know what needs to go on that card. I have used one of the patterned papers as the background for this card and then layered the black alpha for the week number. Since my background was yellow, I chose black and white and pink elements to contrast with the background. One of our important stories from this time in our lives was our cat named Sissy. She died not long after these photos were taken, so I am really glad to have taken her photo. She spent a lot of her last days parked under the lamps for warmth. She shared this spot with the laundry many days, but she never helped, the stinker. Creating layouts from the past can sometimes be challenging to fill in the stories, and I must admit I am unsure why we took photos of our wedding bands, so I allowed the embellishment to tell the story here. I have repeated circle elements in several places, including on the photo and also on the lemon journal card. Always remember that word art and word embellishments can help you tell your stories even if you are unsure of what you want to say. Include those photos anyway, you will be so glad you did! One of the things I loved most about the photos for this week is how subtle the colors are. They are almost black and white, and the black and white in the Farmhouse kit is perfect for these photos. For the right side I continued using circles in the form of polka dots, and hearts. Always lots of hearts! At this particular time my husband Alan was interviewing for jobs and this pensive photo was taken while we did some head shots of him. Even if specific details cannot be shared, we can still include the story and the photo and especially take the opportunity to express pride in our loved ones. Our families will read these words long after we are gone, and we want them to feel loved. All of these stories and words are love letters. Writing stories and including journaling in our pocket pages does not have to be overly complicated, and for this photo of Nick at indoor soccer it really is one quick sentence (he is the kid with the number 2 on his back). Nick is the kind of kid who loves strategy and loves things that make him think, and in this photo you can tell he is deeply pondering how the team should proceed in the game! I took one of the frames in the ephemera pack and flipped the inside so I had room for the journaling. Also notice how I took the word stickers and punched it using a heart punch as an embellishment. One thing I have been loving recently is including a recap of the week, as I have done on this journal card below. Since this is a layout from the past, I wrote about how those photos make me feel today, at this moment in time. I know sometimes it can feel overwhelming to try to include journaling on past layouts, and this is one way to approach that - simply write about how those photos make you feel today. I hope this layout has given you some ideas to help you tell more stories in your layouts! Have you been using your Farmhouse kit this month? If so, please share and tag us! We would love to see! Hi Everyone! I am so excited to share my first blog post as a Clique Kits Ambassador - I cannot wait to share the love of these amazing kits! I have been a pocket scrapbooker for some years now, but decided this month to do something different and the April “Winter Park” kit was so fun to work with for this special moment. Our youngest daughter lost her very first tooth and she was beyond thrilled, so I wanted to make sure to get the story down for her to look at for years to come. This layout was done in a mixed media journal. I chose to put the layout on black cardstock, in order for the Maggie Holmes/Crate Paper “Flourish” papers to pop from the page. I cut some of the paper into 2” x 3” rectangles to form a staggered frame around the photo. I used several different ways to mark the special occasion, one of which was using the rose gold foiled Thickers from the kit. We were calling her “toothless” all day, and I wanted to include that, but also to notate that it was the first tooth lost, I broke it up to also say, “1 tooth {less}” kind of a play on the words. Journaling was a must, though, as I wanted her to remember everything leading up to the day that her tooth came out. I used the same size paper cut outs, in the same staggered pattern as in the photo frame, so as to tie the two look is together. I used the cardstock stickers, also from the “Flourish” line included in the kit, to layer another title under her photo. The ‘SMILE’ sticker was definitely fitting for the photo and I felt that it was a great contrast to the black and white photo. Then, I cut one of the ephemera pieces, that was initially ticket tag, to subtly mark the day of the week. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you were able to get some inspiration for telling your special stories using the ‘Winter Park’ kit!
Aloha!! It's Hannah with you today!! How is week going? Are you like me, I start my year strong, focused and taking a ton of photos. Determined to fully document our day to day lives. Then routine sets in, and I kinda get tired of seeing the same types of photos. How do you switch it up, so you don't stop telling your stories? This year I have decided to use some of my Traveler's Notebooks as a way of documenting those stories from our normal day to day lives. the things we think we will remember because we literally do them everyday. But what about those little changes that over time? Those moments that after a few years your routine really has changed. I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Just 2 to 3 years ago we lived in Hawaii, my kids were really little, in their early school years. we had a routine, and things seemed so easy. This year as I pour my and more time planning our homeschool lessons and grading, I am realizing just how much my life really has changed. Not just in scenery because we moved to a whole new state. Not just because we no longer spend hours and hours in doctor appts throughout the month. The amount of words my girls can read per minute, the number of worksheets my kids finish each day, and the fact that they can actually help with the chores around the house. By using my TN to write a little blurp each day about the comings and goings is a big help with helping me remember these little moments. I plan to use a lot of these journals for PL, but I often like to add pictures when I am document certain moments. I use my words from IG, I add things my kids say that is goofy, I am the weather, I even like to mention things that are happening around me. The TN are perfect for spilling my thoughts of a normal day. Here is a spread I made that is what I like to do when I am documenting things about my day. I used the Girl Tribe Traveler's Notebook Kit. In Photoshop I added one of the PNG files from the printables for the Main Kit. This unicorn was so cute, I thought it would add a fun element to my spread. Plus I was thinking about the fact that unicorns embody this being able to overcome whatever and believing in something impossible, just because you need to be in something. This was the feel I wanted for my spread. Overcoming the day to day grind!! I changed the color with the paint bucket tool. I sized my page size 4 x 8.25 so when I dropped my png in I could size it to the page size easily. This really helps with printing and cutting to add to my Traveler's Notebook. I then dropped my photo into this page in Photoshop and sized it to my liking. I wanted some space at the top for journalling. I wanted to write my journaling, but you could definitely add journaling with the text feature in Photoshop. This would be especially helpful if you had a lot to say and wanted it to know that it would fit in the space. I like my hand writing in my journals, so I just printed my page on cover stock. It's a bit different than photo paper and yardstick. It is a bit thinner, which I like in my Traveler Notebook. I added a few stickers to embellish, I even added embroidery floss in the top of the tag. I am loving the sticker sheet we had in the kit. There is so many stickers with tons of different uses. For the opposite side, I knew I didn't want to add anymore journaling. I used the speciality vellum from the Girl Tribe Main Kit. It has all these symboling, it kind of reminded of all the things that you have planned to do during a day, like a to do list. Having vellum fill a page it would create the illusion of a lots of embellishing on the page without really having to add all the layers. I stapled the vellum to the top. This way if I did want to change my mind later about journaling I could still add some without losing the page. Adding a die cut word, gave me a really easy title. I just had to add this coffee cup to a cluster at the bottom of the vellum. I added stars around my cluster to highlight it. I am using this blue Shimelle paper clip to mark my page, because I intend to journal straight up on the next page. Maybe add a small cluster of stickers, to make the page more appealing. I really love the idea of having tons of journaling about our days. Seeing this writing later makes my heart smile. Here is the final look of my spread. Thanks for joining me today. I hope I have given you some fresh ideas and ways to use your Traveler's Notebooks. Keep an eye out on the Clique Kits Youtube Channel for the process video for this later this week.
