Happy New Year friends! Dana here today sharing a quick decor project that I'm hoping will help keep me on track. I have to admit that I lost track of what day it was sometime back in early December. Now that I'm back to my regular routine, I need to know what that date is on the regular. I picked up a plain black and white flip calendar and personalized it with paint and a fun mix of ephemera and embellishments from past kits. I colored over the black numbers with a gold paint pen. I swapped out the monthly flip cards with some that I cut by hand from the Cocoloko Minimal Life in a Pocket Pad. I'm just loving the muted tones and mod prints on these patterned papers. The Jen Hadfield Peaceful Heart Ephemera and Kimidori Colors Mauve Alpha Stickers were the perfect size to embellish the monthly cards. I used Freckled Fawn and Pinkfresh enamel dots to add small pops of color and dimension to the otherwise flat cards. I like to ease into the new year with baby steps and an open mind. I wait to set goals until the second quarter. However you choose to start the year, I hope it is filled with happiness and creativity!

Hi everybody! It's Gia here so excited to kickoff our August kit reveal with some inspiration for you showing the kit in use! If you are here visiting and would like to get your hands on this awesomeness you are in luck! Go here and subscribe now before they are sold out! The full reveal of Glam Camp is shown on the Monthly Kit page. Not only is the My Mind's Eye Market Street line by Jen Allyson beautiful, this kit has been given the Clique Kits unique touch with some great exclusives that all coordinate maximizing your productivity scrapping along with us all month long! Another thing I absolutely love about Glam Camp is it is full of textures! From burlap bows to woodgrain cards, to cork embellishments, and corrugate card stock- layering with texture is a piece of cake! Hopefully, you are one of our subbies and will soon be finding out for yourself! For this layout I was excited to scrap some pictures from a recent family camping trip. I had a hard time narrowing down which photos to use, and decided it would be fun to challenge myself to use a lot of photos on one layout, taking inspiration from a square pocket page style grid. To create the grid, I first cut paper into squares of different sizes, from 3 1/4 inch squares to 3 3/4 inch squares. The reason I varied the sizes was so that when layering them the different patterns would show. Next I did something I haven't done in a while- good old fashioned scissor distressing! This helped to give my little square piles lots of depth. The exclusive Clique Kits gold wood heart embellishments (hand painted by yours truly and shared with The Clique in the Glam Camp kit) are a little thicker than regular wood veneers, about the same thickness and weight as a flair button. I love all of the gold in this paper collection and the kit adds even more gold to glam up your projects. After I had my squares arranged in a pleasing way, I ran each one through my sewing machine just a little right through the middle, so that the edges would have a tendency to curl up just a little, for effect. Last but not least, I embellished each square pile with lots of dimensional elements such as wood pieces, enamel dots, and flair. For my title I combined both of the alphabets included in the kit (Chic Tags banner alpha and Fancy Pants Designs burlap alpha), plus a gold foil word (Pretty Little Studios) also from the kit. I used a black marker to doodle outline our family name "Lau" in the title to make sure it didn't blend into the sleeping bag in the photo making it difficult to read. In order to make the printable 3 x 4 cards work with my layout, I simply trimmed them down to square shapes! The cards are versatile and can be used in regular 3 x 4 pockets or as layout elements, or as I did here, cut into squares. Because they are printed from downloadable files, they can be used over and over in different ways! I have a feeling I will try fussy cutting some of the elements out at some point, and using them again in a project life style layout. Having coordinating digitals such as printables and cut files every month really stretches how much you can use the kit down to the very last scrap of paper! Here I just wanted to show you how the layered squares look from the side angle where you can see how dimensional they really are, which may not show as well in the full frontal view! The ivory burlap string in the kit was the perfect finishing touch wrapped around my central photo and title element. All of the product in this layout, except for the small piece of Pinkfresh Studios washi tape and the glittered arrow from Freckled Fawn (available in the school store) are from Glam Camp. The confetti and enamel dots and the wood veneer feather are available in the school store also as add ons that coordinate with this kit. They are listed under school store , "Added in August" while supplies last! -xGia Hi everybody! It's Gia back in the Art Studio today showing you all a layout I made yesterday while celebrating National Scrapbooking Day. There were so many challenges, online giveaways, and other events taking place it was impossible to take everything in, wasn't it? I came across a challenge to make a "paperless" layout. Of course by paperless, they meant patterned paper-less. I decided this would be a good challenge for me, because patterned paper is actually my all time favorite supply. So I don't always make the most budget friendly decisions when it comes to acquiring the stuff. It is easy to buy and hoard way, way , WAY more than you need. Know what I'm sayin' ? To accomplish this challenge, I turned to my Simple Stories Snap sets which made up the majority of the layout. But I also pulled out a 12 x 12 sticker sheet from last year's I {Heart} Summer line as well as some of the coordinating brads from my 'leftovers." Here are a few ways I saved money on this layout!
Other embellishments used: puffy anchor sticker by Skippings, red acrylic heart, blue glitter star sticker, and white enamel/metal charm hearts by Freckled Fawn, orange XOXO cut from Amy Tangerine Plus One tag, yellow enamel frame by Pinkfresh Studios, Rad flair button from October Afternoon Daily Flash. Living in Hawaii land of the endless summer I can't seem to get enough summer themed supplies, so I am pretty excited that Simple Stories has two new Summer Simple Sets, Sea to Shining Sea and Under the Stars coming out, the Summer Snap set, AND coming soon the Good Day Sunshine collection! If you haven't pre-ordered your Summer School Clique Into Summer Limited Edition Kit and Workshop, we really hope you will join us! I love to take photos with my phone and share them in the online gallery. I love to look at other peoples photos and see what they are up to that day. One of my main subjects is my puppy baby, Spock. Another thing I like about instagram is that I have square photos. I love using these photos sizes for my layouts and projects. They are already cropped how I want them and I just have to print them off (either at home or online, I use Shutterfly). I love to printing my photos in 4x4, 3x3 or 2x2. They make great featured images on a project! Today, I'm sharing a layout using our April Kit - Debutante! This layout came together in less then 30 minutes, actually more like 20 minutes. I love when layouts come together like that! Of course, this is a layout of my sweet little guy! I used the strips at the bottom of the Amy Tangerine - Plus One papers to add texture and visual interest the to background of my layout. I ADORE this large strip paper as well. I focused on using black and white with the pops of aqua and te small pop of green in the paper strip. Here is a close up of the paper strips, the awesome acrylic arrow from Freckled Fawn and those fantastic foam stickers from the kit! I also used the 3x4 die cut to create some interest as well! Thanks for stopping by this Saturday and joining me! It's been such a fun and busy week here at Clique Kits, with our blog share, blog posts from Amy Tan herself and our April Guest Designer - Danielle! We have so much in store for you in the future as well! We've had planning meetings this week and are getting VERY giddy to start showing you the May kit!! Thanks for all your support! Lacey It's a 'howdy' kind of day today! I think it's because I pulled out my cowgirl boots for the first time in awhile. Love them! In case you didn't figure it out yet, it's Jody here today! Speaking of pulling things out that I haven't used in awhile ..... I finally printed my Christmas photos, finally! Yup, I'm scrapbooking Christmas in April. Why not! There really shouldn't be any rules about this type of thing in scrapbooking, at least not in my text book. There's a time and place for chronological order, but not here my friends. Not when you're photos and papers inspire you to create with them, no matter what your subject or season happen to be. On the note of breaking some rules today, I've created something for Christmas with our Spring kit, Debutante... What?! Yup, rule breaker alert! It's totally OK to use 'non-Christmas' papers to create a holiday project, in fact we highly encourage it!! I know some of my friends need a permission slip to do this sometimes, which is completely understand. I've been stuck in the "I have to scrapbook in order" rut, but no more. Case in point >>>> look below! Does this black and white paper look familiar? It's the 'B' side to this Amy Tangerine paper, Soul Mate, which is in our Debutante Kit!! A few weeks back, I did a post about whether you were an 'A' or 'B' and shared that I'm mostly a B........side scrapper that is. So, which would you choose of the Soul Mate paper? Here's my Christmas layout using the Soul Mate paper. You'll notice a difference in the color of the two images. This is just due to one being a digitized image from the website and the other is an actual photo. So, there's nothing wrong with your eye, at least today. I love that our kits are colorful, but also have a great balance of neutrals. This is the beautiful thing about our kits peeps! All it took to get this layout into the holiday spirit were a few red elements. Easy peasy. My 'go-to' red string is by May Arts, which I also carry in my Etsy Shop here. It's a perfect 1/32 of an inch thick and adds just the right pop of color and texture on any project I'm working on. Next, I added some red metallic sequins, a bingo chip and a heart from Freckled Fawn (thank you again Gia!). I also added lots of die cuts from the exclusive cut files which came with the kit subscription. Speaking of those cut files & printables, they should be our Clique's email boxes right now! Here are a few close ups too :) I love how the May Arts burlap string looks like it's floating across my layout. If you're wondering how in the world I attached the May Arts burlap string, it's pretty simple. I used a few daps of Aileen's Tacky Glue in several sections and let it dry for a bit. This is seriously one of my favorite glues everyone. It's great because it dries clear, not expensive at all and is thick so it really holds onto your embellishments such as wood veneers, sequins and ribbon! You can find it at any hobby store and use your coupon. I hope you were inspired today! Go look at your Debutante kit, or through your stash, at those non-holiday papers. Now, really take a good look at them and I'm willing to bet that you can see them in a different light. I know you all have papers that you can totally use for those holiday photos even though your paper isn't specifically holiday themed!

Happy Scrapppin'! ~Jody Welcome back to the blog for another day of Debutante Week ! Today you are here in the Art Studio with me, Gia! Do you love color? I do !! We live in such a colorful world, and the fact that there are so many possible hues makes me giddy just thinking about it! Not only can color make me giddy, it can make me feel a lot of different things! Warm or cool, tranquil or energetic, hopeful or sad, whatever the mood-there's a color palette that "speaks" its language visually. Thanks to the internet and websites like Pinterest, it is so easy for creative types to find visual inspiration nowadays, and scrapbookers are no exception. I decided to show you how I used a mood board to create a layout. What could be more fun than a little girl twirling in a twirly dress in Springtime? How about two little girls! Here are the three adjectives I used to guide me in my search for an inspiring visual. 1. carefree 2. vibrant 3. sweet And here is what I came up with: Even though the dominant color in this layout is my current favorite neutral (grey) with lots of black and white, the colors from the "Pool Party" palette were easy to pull from my kit as they are found throughout Amy Tangerine's Plus One collection and really add that "pop" of color.
Here is my supply list for this page: From Debutante kit: Amy Tangerine Plus One patterned papers, Freckled Fawn acrylic arrow, Freckled Fawn glitter star pick, Clique Kits yellow "Play" flair, black triangle/arrow washi tape (which I sliced in thirds to give it a 'lighter' feel), Amy Tangerine Thicker words, yellow sequins, and Pinkfresh Studio yellow color block heart wood veneer. And a few extras: Handmade crochet heart gifted to me by Lacey Igo Gasper (if we all beg maybe she will make these available to the Clique all the time!) Additional washi tape by Papyrus. Acrylic camera embellishment (exclusive Amy Tangerine embellishment from a class kit.) Pink camera paper clip and transparency 3 x 4 cards from Freckled Fawn. Silver striped vellum from Stampin Up and resin bird from Close to My Heart. Yesterday, Lacey showed us some ideas for using sketches for inspiration for pocket page cards. I absolutely love making my own cards, don't you? So in case you missed it, check it out here. And now you have seen another easy way to kick it up a notch in no time flat on your layouts by using a mood/palette board with your Clique Kit! -xGia |
