Hi friends! Nicole here and today I have another layout to share with you using the April "Full Bloom" Main kit as well as a few of the April add ons. I'm also featuring some mixed media on my background using a few spray mists from my stash!
I love all of the bright colors in this months kit! For this project, I chose to use the Heidi Swapp Color Fresh paper and cut a large section of it out. I wanted the piece that had all of the color blocks so I can coordinate the colors with the flowers. The flowers that I used on today's layout are a part of this months cut file! I cut a few different sizes out. I backed only the larger flowers with matching Vicki Boutin papers and kept the smaller ones just the shape itself.
For my background, I layered yellow, pink and teal spray mists with water to create all the colorful splatters.
I added in my title with the white alpha stickers from the main kit and also Vicki Boutin's Thickers. I also used two Elle's Studio tags to the left of my photo to coordinate with the black and white stripes of the background.
Lastly, I added the branding strip from that same 12x12 paper, another Elle's Studio tag and a small flower to the bottom of my page as well as my journaling. And for a final pop of color, I used the green thread included in the main kit to do a bit of accent stitching at the top of my page.
Thank you so much for stopping by today! I hope I've inspired you to create something beautiful!
Hello scrappy friends! It's been a bit dreary around here so I decided that a colorful summery layout was in order. I backed the Messy Scallop Background cut file with a fun rainbow colored sheet of paper and went from there.
This fun cut file is so versatile and can be used for so many themes! It has movement and energy and reminds me of everything from rainbows to grassy hills to snow-covered mountains.
I tucked some fussy cut flowers here and there to finish of this layout. Using one sheet of colorful background paper made this a quick layout to assemble and the end result just screams fun.
Aloha my friends. Today I am sharing the play by play on how I went from unboxing my April Main kit Winter Park to a finished layout in 15 minutes. Are you ready?
Home from work...surprise! Happy mail awaits. But first...dinner...time out to make a salad and start the grill. Now I get the Silhouette going and in no time I am cutting this month's beautiful butterfly cut file by Maryam Perez! It is quite an intricate file so it takes almost 4 minutes on my old cameo. I decide to use a photo of me on my birthday and it is fitting since this month Clique Kits is also celebrating a birthday! We just turned 4 years old, and entering our 5th year! Whew!
I audition a few of the Maggie Holmes Flourish pattern papers as a background but decide they are too busy for this cut file. So I pull out my favorite background- white cardstock. I can't ever have enough white cardstock. Next I grab another cut file that I had previously cut and never used- if you are like me you probably have piles of these somewhere on your desk. It takes me about 3 minutes to back the large butterfly file in some spaces with patterned paper from my kit. I pull out my favorite embellishment from most of the Clique Kits- the ephemera pack and start to play with my design. To keep the focus on my photo of me celebrating my 49th birthday last August, I used a simple color palette of black and white and just one other color-that gorgeous blue! When I am happy with my design, I snap a photo of it to make sure I don't forget where to adhere the pieces. Here is what the photo looked like:
Now I choose my title from my drawer full of Thickers and other alphabets. I thought about using the alphabet in the kit but decided it would be too much metallic stuff. I settle on a word from last November's kit and the number 49 from a really old kit but the color was perfect (I was crazy about that Fancy Pants Designs line.) But getting back to the layout, I am ready to stick it down. Spray adhesive was my choice given the intricacy of the butterflies and the fact that it doesn't show through the vellum pieces. It also took less than a minute to adhere everything! I used some foam tape for the photo because it needed a little lift to rest nicely on the background. I wrote in my journaling just citing the day and occasion the photo was taken and quickly sprinkled a little bit of black ink and done! Wow I think that's a record. Here are a couple of close-ups.
Not all of my layouts are this speedy. Sometimes I take days to complete just one! But it is important to make a little time every day for creating and one of the things that really makes this easy is to have inspiration delivered to my door every month. I know you will all be stalking your mailperson in another week or so and in the mean time head over to the shop to grab some add ons to customize your box before its sealed for delivery!
Hello loves! My February kit is still in another city 10 hours away from where I live so I created a new scrapbook layout with what's left of my December "Lemonade" kit. I used one of the exclusive cut files this month designed by Maryam Perez and I love how it turned out.
How cute is that background cut file?! I see so many possible designs using this one and I will definitely use it again when I finally get my Feb kit.
So, anyways, here is my scrapbook page
I used all the light colored patterned papers to back the cut file. After adhering all the papers. I used foam tape and placed it on top of another white cardstock. I like how it doesn't look like too flat.
Then I brushed the empty spaces with some watercolors and splattered some as well for a mixed media look.
I layered a doily and some messy thread first before adhering my photos. I converted one photo into black & white and left the other colored. I wanted to add contrast to my colorful layout and I think the black & white photo did the trick.
I also used another oldie but goodie cut file and painted it with metallic gold acrylic paint. I like layering several pieces of the same cut file for dimension.
A scatter of sequins and a bit of journaling completed my layout.
That's all from me today. I hope you liked my page!
Thanks for dropping by and happy crafting!
