Hello, lovelies! Donna here with a new layout using the August "Meadow" kit. I based my layout on this month's sketch and I also used one of the CK exclusive cut files. I loosely followed the orientation of the sketch especially the flow of the elements. This is how my layout turned out. I created a textured background using the stencil and some mist sprays before placing the photos and other embellishments. I mixed the cut file florals and fussy cut the tiny flowers, accentuating the black and white photos in the middle. Converting the photos into black and white helped in making them pop over the light colored background. To finish off, I added the little accents on the right and left side of the layout using a mix of wood butterflies and stickers and some of the smaller cut files.
I hope you liked my layout and may it inspire you to be creative today! Thanks for dropping by! Happy crafting,

Hello Lovelies, Theresa here to share a layout using the August 2018 Sketch! I am working with all the beautiful papers and embellishments from the August Meadow kit today. Here is a look at the sketch. Working with a sketch is such an awesome way to get a fantastic layout done without having to worry about the design work. No worries, though, you can absolutely make a sketch your own just by making some minor tweaks and changes as you like. This is my layout I have created! Notice how I took the ribbons from one of the patterned papers and turned them on their side to follow the sketch. I still have a central element just as the sketch, but I have made it my own using the papers in the kit. As I was creating this layout, I cut out the ribbons from the paper and considered adding them to a contrasting color cardstock, but in the end a neutral cream background won out. I also looked around to find all the butterfly punches and dies I had in my stash, and used other patterns in the kit to create butterflies. I have layered those on the edges of the ribbons on the page, and once I have lightly adhered them to the page, I sewed them down. This is the layout with the butterflies sewn down. To make the ribbons pop, I used white thread and a smaller stitch, and just ran the seams right over top of each butterfly. I love the vertical element of this sketch and layout, and love that the stitching and butterflies amplify this. The sketch called for an embellishment on the upper right side, so I have added a few of the Heidi Swapp word stickers and my date stamp. My photos are from a trip we took several years ago to St. Simons Island, GA. This is at the pier on a windy, cloudy day. The photos are a bit dramatic, just like the ribbons on my page. I love the moodiness of these photos. I am loving the dimension and the splatters of color in the butterflies. The sketch called for embellishments in the lower left of the layout, so I have added the butterflies and a bit of my journaling here. I also added my title using the Heidi Swapp handwritten words. The upper left side of the layout seemed to float off the page, so I added just the tiniest word stamps to keep us visually connected to this side of the layout. Here is another look at this pretty creation. Have you used the August sketch this month? Let us see! Be sure to share and tag us. Thank you so much for joining me today. See you again soon. Hi friends, Theresa here with a mixed medial layout for you. Our product focus this month is the incredible stencil that was included in the August Meadow kit from Alexandra Renke. I absolutely love stencils and made a beeline for my modeling paste and a photo to get started. To begin my layout, I cut down one of the patterned papers to layer onto the pink paper as a border. I mixed my modeling paste with black acrylic paint and placed a few of the ink splatters around my page. They are placed strategically: at the top of the page, to the right side, and also to the left side of where my photo will be placed. I already have in my head how I want the layout to look and placed the stencils accordingly. Once I have the black splatters where I want them, I added my title. My title is taken from a Lauren Daigle song called You Say, which I am absolutely playing on repeat right now. Once I had my title in place, I added journaling across the page on the opposite side. My photo is placed along the right hand side and I added a few of the exclusive die cut ephemera that were included in the kit. The beautiful watercolor florals and butterflies add an amazing depth of color that this layout definitely needed. I have clustered three groupings around my photo. I wanted to use the stencil again, so I added another layer of modeling paste, and this time I added some Prima Art Alchemy Sparks paint in Fairy Wings to the mix. You can absolutely add most any acrylic paint to your modeling paste to thicken it a bit and make it work with your stencil! For this layout I wanted to add journaling but notice how I have covered it mostly using my photo and ephemera. Sometimes I like writing just for the sake of getting thoughts onto paper, and then covering them up just to put peace on it. This is a wonderful way to use mixed media as a form of processing thoughts that you know probably aren't permanent. The plus is that you get to make something pretty as well! Here is another look at the full layout. Have you been inspired to use the stencil? We would love to see, so be sure to share and tag us! Thank you for joining me today! Hello, lovelies! Donna here today sharing my first layout using the August "Meadow" Kit. ![]() I started by fussy cutting this beautiful paper by Alexandra Renke. ![]() The watercolor floral design is more than enough, you can place your photo in the middle or anywhere and then write a bit of journaling afterward, if you like. But I wanted to make the swirls of floral to stand out more so I mounted it with foam tape and adhered to a cardstock after splattering some pink, coral, yellow and black spray mists. ![]() I also fussy cut these yellow butterflies and spread them in the layout. ![]() Instead of adhering the sticker wordart as is, I adhered them first on a cardstock and then mounted using a foam tape for a bit of dimension. I really like how this turned out! I would love to hear what you think of my project today.
Thanks for dropping by! Happy crafting, Hello Lovelies! Theresa here sharing a Mixed Media layout with you using the August kit called Meadow! This kit just absolutely blew my socks off with all the goodies, but the watercolor paper from One Canoe Two was an instant favorite so that is what I began with! Here is the layout I have created. This paper is so beautiful to work with. In my photo we both have on blue shirts, so that is my background color, and the California Poppy seed packet guided my color choices for the pink and orange. The gelatos I used are Faber Castell: Blueberry, Pistachio, Green Tea, Red Cherry, and Tangerine. To use them as paints, I scraped off a bit from the tips and put it in my paint palette, then added a bit of water. Just painting the paper alone was so satisfying, and the result is amazing. I encourage you to grab yours too, and just do it. You will be so glad you did! Once the background is dry, the fun begins. I have layered very simply on this layout, using the seed packet and the Heidi Swapp stickers to frame the photo. The wood veneer butterflies fit this layout beautifully as a light, airy embellishment! I created a very simply journal tag that hides out in the seed packet. As I was painting my background, I added a few paint splatters to the tag and added a simple ribbon to the top. My photo is a driveway selfie my husband and I took on a date night several weeks ago, so I journaled about our journey together as a blended family. I cannot imagine being on this journey with anyone else. The tag and the ribbon, when they are in the seed packet, provide a lovely bit of texture and contrast to the layout. I loved having the seed packets to play with in this kit! For my title, I loved the Heidi Swapp words in the kit, and I also love that they repeat the navy color in my ribbon. I don't have a Minc, but the navy color contrasts against the background. At the bottom of the page I wanted to add the date, so I did using the roller stamp that is part of the One Canoe Two collection. It is not included in the kit, but it is definitely a pretty stamp that you will want to add to your collection! To tie it into the rest of the page, I added another word phrase sticker and butterfly. Have one more look at this super simple layout. How are you using your Meadow kit?
