Hello friends today I have a sweet card to share. ![]() My last DT share I created a layout where I fussy cut the wreath but only used half on the layout. Well this is how I used up the second half of the wreath. Firstly I cut a 5x7 inch strip from off white cardstock. I cut the same from the wreath paper, measuring 2.5 inches either side of the centre of the wreath. I machine stitched around the edge of this paper piece. This then created the visual cascading effect of the tulips. I added the larger dragonfly from the die cut pack attaching with foam tape. I chose a word sentiment from the Heidi Swapp stickers and again attached with foam tape. I finished the front of my card off with a light splatter of black color shine. With a left over piece of the wreath paper I cut it so it would sit in the corner of the inner of my card. I machine stitched around the edge as I did on the front. I did not use foam tape to adhere as I did not want it to be too bulky. I chose another word sentiment sticker (attached with foam tape) to finish off. This card is totally about beautiful papers and a very gorgeous dragonfly die cut! Machine stitching really adds a nice texture on a card. ![]() Thank you for taking the time to stop by and have look and read.
See you soon.

Hiya Scrappy peeps! Suzanna here as Ambassador again to share another layout that I created using the oh so gorgeous August Meadow kits! I went a little mixed media "heavy" and added one of the exclusive cut files but just LOVE the way it turned out. I arranged the elements from the digital file (available HERE) into a heart shape and cut it with my Silhouette Cameo. I then removed the "positives" or the shaped leaving with the "negative". I overlayed the negative over a Distress Oxide background that I created, allowing the complimentary color mix to peek through the openings. For some additional movement and dimension to the page, I added a few of the "positives" or shapes. There's something about the effect that makes it seem like the fussy cut butterflies are flying, don't you think? For a little more color and to ground the page a bit, I used a varegated yellow/orange thread and stitched a heart shape around the outer edge of the digital cut file. I also added a thin border around the outside edge of the layout to frame the page and really pop the colors in the mixed media background. You can just see the pops of gold that sparkle from the page. In my last layout that I shared with you, (have you had time to play with the sketch challenge yet?) I used these same fussy cut yellow butterflies. They are just the best!! The pops of bright color from the custom die cuts created by Gia as so whimsical and fun! I love the way you can leave these Heidi Swapp Minc words as they are or add foil for a complimentary color. I ran mine through my Minc with a coppery, orange. You can see how to do that in today's process video if you aren't sure how. I have had a blast designing with Clique Kits' kit this month and look forward to seeing all the goodies y'all create with this kit. It's definitely "not your average" kit and this month is different to work with. It really pushes your creative boundaries, in a good way!

Hiya scrappy peeps! Suzanna here today for my first Ambassador, or guest designer post! I have been eagerly anticipating this day since January when I had the pleasure of meeting Gia. This kit is just stunning! And to have these goodies from Alexandra Renke, all the way from Germany, in the kit and the kit be the price that it is is just amazing! You have no idea! Anyway, I digress.
This first layout I have to share with you is a sketch based layout! Those of you who now me and know my work now that sketches are my thing. I first got into the scrapbook design world through sketches, I have been on a number of sketch team and now create my sketches. Sketches really make "easy work" of scrapbooking. And the best part about them is, they are open to interpretation. If something doesn't fit with your photo or your patterned paper, move it. Make it work, it's not set in stone!
As Theresa did yesterday with her sketch inspired layout, I too cut out the ribbons of color from one of the Renke papers. I played with a white background but I felt as though the colors didn't pop they way they could and should. Hence the black background. Also like Theresa (great minds think alike, don't you think?!), I used my sewing machine and stitched in some extra color and movement with a varigated yellow/orange thread.
I used a few elements from the Travelers Notebook kit to compliment the traditional kit. While I love the Renke papers, I really needed some colored patterned papers for the layers that I love and the sketch calls for behind the photos. The pink notebook paper die cut from Maggie Holmes and a cut apart journal spot from Pretty Little Studio were perfect supplementation!
These words from Heidi Swapp are sublime, don't you think? I did add some extra subtitles to my layout. While I omitted the circles, I do have the two clusters of embellishments that are called for in the sketch, this "wander" Minc word being the focal point of one of them. I ran the word with a copper/orange foil through my Minc so as to add some simmer and sparkle, like the reflection of the water.
Both clusters include the wood veneer butterflies as well as butterflies that are fussy cut from another one of the Renke papers. There are plenty of fussy cutting opportunities with this kit if you are a fussy cutting fiend as I am! The wood veneer butterflies are coated with gesso to change the look to work with the white borders around my photos. A couple of the butterflies were then layered in Vicki Boutin's art crayon using a water brush.
The gold letters included with the kit from Love + Lemon are fantastic however, to work with this particular layout, they needed modifying. To have used them as is, they would have over powered the size of the photos I chose to use. So to scale them back a bit, I fussy cut the letters as well, leaving a thin border around the edge.

Hello Lovelies, Theresa here to share a layout using the August 2018 Sketch! I am working with all the beautiful papers and embellishments from the August Meadow kit today. Here is a look at the sketch.
Working with a sketch is such an awesome way to get a fantastic layout done without having to worry about the design work. No worries, though, you can absolutely make a sketch your own just by making some minor tweaks and changes as you like.
This is my layout I have created! Notice how I took the ribbons from one of the patterned papers and turned them on their side to follow the sketch. I still have a central element just as the sketch, but I have made it my own using the papers in the kit.
As I was creating this layout, I cut out the ribbons from the paper and considered adding them to a contrasting color cardstock, but in the end a neutral cream background won out. I also looked around to find all the butterfly punches and dies I had in my stash, and used other patterns in the kit to create butterflies. I have layered those on the edges of the ribbons on the page, and once I have lightly adhered them to the page, I sewed them down.
This is the layout with the butterflies sewn down. To make the ribbons pop, I used white thread and a smaller stitch, and just ran the seams right over top of each butterfly.
I love the vertical element of this sketch and layout, and love that the stitching and butterflies amplify this. The sketch called for an embellishment on the upper right side, so I have added a few of the Heidi Swapp word stickers and my date stamp.
My photos are from a trip we took several years ago to St. Simons Island, GA. This is at the pier on a windy, cloudy day. The photos are a bit dramatic, just like the ribbons on my page. I love the moodiness of these photos.
I am loving the dimension and the splatters of color in the butterflies. The sketch called for embellishments in the lower left of the layout, so I have added the butterflies and a bit of my journaling here. I also added my title using the Heidi Swapp handwritten words.
The upper left side of the layout seemed to float off the page, so I added just the tiniest word stamps to keep us visually connected to this side of the layout. Here is another look at this pretty creation.
Have you used the August sketch this month? Let us see! Be sure to share and tag us. Thank you so much for joining me today. See you again soon.
