This is our last post from guest blogger Charity Donaldson. The Clique Kits Gals hope you have enjoyed her as much as we have! A Passion for Printables and Cut Files Part IIII have been really loving making 12x12 layouts with pocket pages as the facing page lately. So for my final project, I decided to go with the flow... and by that I mean the photos that I had printed right after getting this month's kit. Maybe I should talk about that for a bit first. I am really trying to maximize my kit usage. I LOVE getting kits because it keeps me stocked with fresh products that inspire me. I don't know if I ever would have gotten anything from Pinkfresh Studios on my own, but I LOVE the little wooden bits that have come in the kits and LOVE that washi in the Summer School kit (drooling). And in order to do that, this month I went ahead and 1st printed the printables when they arrived (I wound up printing them fully twice and another sheet of them one additional time). This inspired me to go ahead and create a card which can be viewed on my blog. After printing out the printables I took a look at the pics of the kit contents at the website and decided that I would cut out all the cut files in black cardstock (last month I cut them out of the gold foil in the kit as my first step and I USED a ton of them). After the kit arrived in the mail, I went through some photos that I thought I might want to use and printed them out so I had my photos to hand when the urge and time to scrap came together. This appears to be magic. In the past I would forget that I had printables and I may or may not decide to haul out a cutting mat for my cut files and it would irk me that I wasn't using everything I was getting as an exclusive. I mean that's the best reason to be a part of the Clique, right? I went to a comedy show with friends this May and was SO EXCITED to use this awesome kit to scrap the memories of this show. I took a LOT of photos of the performers and printed my favorites. The 12x12 photo is a TERRIBLE phone photo of the four of us who went together and this page came together SO QUICK. I picked out the papers and the embellies seemed to pick themselves out. I used one of the cut files to make my own stencil and made some chevron arrows to add to the embellishments that came with the kit. Now for the facing Pocket Page: I “Plunged Into Watercolors” with the Summer School Class over at Clique Kits this week and was inspired to play with some watercolors to back one of the cut files from Show and Tell, which I also used with a printable, a bit of patterened paper, an epoxy sticker from Pinkfresh Studios and an exclusive Flair Button from Clique Kits. The photo here, I'm not sure if you can see, is of my ticket stubb, they keep the tickets at the door of this venue (though I was told I could ask for one after the show... I didn't.) There was quite a lot I wanted to say about this show. And the people I was with. I also felt like I wanted to record some song lyrics, I know the song now, but that memory could fade and I thought it was a nice addition. I was glad I could fit it all in on a 4x6 card from the DIY Collection by Simple Stories. The 3x4 slots on this pocket page EACH have a photo (told you I took lots). I LOVE that the frames that came with the kit fit in the 3x4 pocket pages (I love the ones by We R Memory Keepers) and I used both pattern paper by Heidi Swapp and I cut a 4x6 card to fill the other pockets, I did a tiny bit of embellishing to each card (have I mentioned how much I love those little printable tabs... they just add so much without being so much to add). And then I was finished... I really REALLY like how that watercoloring set off the cutfile on that top card. I love that I used so much space over on this side for journalling. I also love how the photos look, even though they are just low light phone photos. OH... I forgot to mention. I used the Snapseed app to lighten up the photo on my 12x12 spread. Straight from the phone you couldn't tell who anyone was. If you need a way to improve your phone photos, just google. That's how I found out about Snapseed. I have so enjoyed being the Substitute Teacher this month and I hope that you feel inspired to use your printables and cut files to be more creative and get more use from your kit. As of writing this post I have two full sheets of 12x12 paper left along with some miscellaneous embellishments from my kit. They will probably be long gone by the time this post is live. Happy Scrapping! Keep on pursuing your passion for printables and cut files Charity. The Clique Kits gals are so thrilled to see how you use up your kits and stretch them to the max with the digital exclusives! --xoxo The Clique Kits Gals

Hey all! Jody is back on our Clique Kits blog today with a fun layout I created with our Clique Into Summer School Workshop kit! I've been super excited to be creating with all the pocket pages in our kit, but just had to create a 12x12 layout. Here we go! First, I used a sheet of 12x12 American Crafts cardstock and threw some ink at it, literally. I've been asked a few times since our Clique Kits Pep Rally on Wednesday, how I apply my ink. Well, here's a super quick video on how I use spray inks such as Studio Calico Mr. Huey's. And here's my layout! I used lots of my go to foam adhesive on the punched out cloud shapes and then used one of the negatives from those clouds on my layout too. It adds a fun and unexpected element to the page. The overall design of my layout is pretty simple, but I love to add lots of small details and embellishments such as our fabulous sequins, ink splatters, Pink Fresh Studio wood veneers and Lacey's fabulous exclusive Clique Kits printable files! I have been printing those fab files right onto glossy photo paper and love the results. ![]() This was such a fun paper line to work with! Good Day Sunshine is definitely a paper line perfect for tons of occasions, plus it's gender neutral without looking too boyish which I adore. Onto some Clique Kits specials right now!! Have a great day & do something creative! ~ Jody I am having so much fun with the Simple Stories Good Day Sunshine Kit and Clique Into Summer class! We hope you enjoyed your first lesson with Gia and have had fun plunging into watercolors! Once you get started playing with watercolors it is kind of hard to stop! Gia also shared a fun video on the Clique Kits YouTube channel sharing a few peeks at the Clique Kits girls summer pocket pages. Check it out HERE and hit the subscribe button while you are there! Today I want to share my summer 2014 cover page with you! I cut down one of the beautiful 12x12 papers in the kit and adhered to the back of another page I had already completed. I wanted some of the wood grain paper to show so I cut the sides of my cover page down. I used one of the die cut cards that came in this kit and created a pocket by adding adhesive to the sides and the bottom of the card. Here I can store tags, receipts, cards, photos and little bits of ephemera I collect over the summer to add to my album. Life is busy and I need somewhere to store things in my album since I know I will not get to scrap the memories right away. I embellished the pocket by added a few layers of ephemera from the kit and the acetate card with stars on it that also came in the kit. (styles vary per kit) I pulled out an exclusive summer flair and the star shaped paper clip and added them as well! A few fun stickers from one of the sticker sheets and of coarse my favorite Pinkfresh Studio wood veneer hearts from my stash! A very simple cover but I love how it turned out. If you missed out on this kit we have the workshop available for purchase that will give you access to all the lesssons, private group, printables and cut files. We also have a few exclusive flair available for purchase in the shop We have enjoyed seeing your photos on Instagram and Facebook so keep them coming! Once you have your cover complete make sure to hashtag it with #cliqueintosummer and #cliquekits so we can take a look and for your chance to win a fabulous prize!! Thanks so much for joining me today and enjoy your day!
This is the second post by our guest blogger Charity Donaldson about her passion for printables and cut files... In case you missed her first post, you can find it here. On to using the fabulous printables on a pocket page! This is the “sister” page to the last layout I made, and I actually created this one the same day I created the other layout using Show and Tell! I want to mention for just a moment that the 12x12 page took me a LONG TIME! I kind of knew when I started that I wanted to use lots of frames in layers and in some sort of clustery type layout... but when I started on this pocket page it was SO FAST!! I used the 12x12 as my inspiration and used a 4x6 scrap of paper that was left over from my layout, reprinted some of the printables from Show and Tell and got started! This 4x6 is the one I made from that leftover scrap of paper, I loved using the notebook punch again to echo where I used it on the facing page and used that Wonderful Moments printable to bring in more orange (see the orange peeping over the punched edge). Doodling around the border sometimes feels like a good way to frame out things so I used a white Signo pen around the edges of this black card, I used a pinkfresh arrow and some printables to accent the two photos of my lovely godchildren and their awesome parents. This card with my goddaughter is simple and awesome... it combines a printable with a diecut file (I used my Cameo to adjust the size for the pic) a cut apart and some awesome embellies from the kit: an acetate piece, a 3x3 card, a puffy sticker and a 4x6 card! The row of 3x4 cards is fairly simple and holds a lot of journalling and a terrible phone photo of a terrific dessert. My fav in that row is the 3x4 card from the kit that includes a printable and some of the diecuts along with an acetate shape and an epoxy sticker. It is so bright and happy and makes me smile! I find it really hard to get a good pic when they are all in a page protector (btw I love using the ones from We R Memory Keepers in case you were wondering) but here is a shot showing the whole thing put together. Thanks so much for lettiing me share with you today. They look so nice side by side in the album and it helps me include more stories and pictures while not feeling like I have to scrap a 12x12 for stories that don't take up that much room... and it's fun to get creative on a smaller scale. It's something I'm doing more and more. Thanks, Charity for another great post inspiring us to use our digital files over and over again!
What really caught my eye on this first layout was the explosion of ink, sequins, and enamel. It really draws the focus into the image and adds some great visual texture! The second layout we are sharing is close to my heart! Starbucks! I love how Stephanie used the Heidi Swapp Word Heart paper and cut it in half. What a great way to use an awesome paper on one layout, but still have the ability to create with the other half later! Finally, we have a fantastic card. I love the pop of yellow that Stephanie used on this card, paired with the black, white and cream in the background. And of course those awesome Amy Tangerine Thicker Words! Thank you Stephanie for sharing your awesome projects with us this month!! We adore what you have created so far with the June kit - Show & Tell. If you love Stephanie's work, head over to her blog and also join us for our blog share NEXT week, Wednesday, June 25th, starting RIGHT here on the Clique Kits blog!!
You still have a chance to purchase the June kit a la carte in the Clique Kits store! Or sign-up to be a Clique Kits member starting your subscription in July and get the June kit at 1/2 price!! Again, thank you again Stephanie for taking the time to share your inspiration and talents with the Clique! |
