Aloha Clique International friends! I am sharing a travelers notebook layout I finished recently. To make this layout I used only one 12 x 12 paper. On the right side, I used watercolor paper as a background paper and I used the pastel pearl set of watercolors from Kuretake to create an ombre wash. I love this set because the glimmer is very subtle and the colors are so soft. I cut apart the Paige Evans Bloom Street paper 7 into strips the width of the squares. Punching along the strips of paper with my Monstera leaf punch from the strips is an easy way to punch multiple shapes quickly and easily. The B side of the paper is pink with small daisies and bumble bees and I used this as the background of the opposite page of my spread. Finally, I used another scrap from the same paper behind my photo. This layout documents the first time my fiance and I took a walk on the beach together. We stopped to take a selfie and even though it came out a little blurry I still cherish the photo. I machine stitched the individual leaves in rows on my watercolor background. One of the shaker embellishments from the Over the Rainbow kit (from the Amy Tangerine Picnic in the Park collection) was the perfect finishing touch under my photo. I hope you will try using a favorite punch to create a simple but fun layout.

Today we are wrapping up the April Guest Educator collaboration with Betz Golden. We cannot say enough wonderful things about sharing our space and community with her and how much we enjoyed learning from her videos and more on You Tube and Social Media. You can see the video of her finished album and special project about her battle with depression at: https://youtu.be/8GD-n2_eDw0 At the bottom of this post, you'll find links to the products she used, as well as an unboxing video and three "how to" videos of some of the processes she used to make her journal pages. In addition, here are some of the layouts she designed using mixed media techniques and Clique Kits Explore Learn Kits. We are looking forward to having Betz back again in the future for a different explore & learn series. Suzanne back with another layout featuring the very fun and bright “Color Me Happy” kit. This kit is packed with super fun embellishments and patterned papers. I thought of ALL of the crazy layouts I could create with this kit, but low and behold - kept it very simple! This collection compliments my daughter’s big and cheesy smile in these pictures perfectly! I started off using a solid color piece of cardstock as my base. I decided I wanted more pattern behind the base-so I cut the cardstock down about an inch on all sides and mounted it on one of the patterned papers that came with the kit. I will just note - the solid color cardstock pieces that came with this kit are GORGEOUS! There are several papers in the collection that feature a scallop design. I fussy-cut one of the smaller designs and used as a banner embellishment. Also included with the kit is a sequin embellishment pack that I used to create the framed shaker pocket. I also fussy-cut the rainbow printed vellum piece included with the kit; I used the vellum “waste” behind the photos! With just a few more touches, this layout is complete! Everything I needed, down to the title, was included in this fabulous kit! Thank you so much for allowing me to share my creativity with you this month! I have absolutely enjoyed creating with Clique’s fabulous kits, and hope that I’ve inspired you to do the same! Happy Wednesday Friends! Suzanne back to share my second layout for this month. This mixed-media layout features die-cut and fussy cut pieces from the Paige Evans “Bloom Street Collection.” I mixed in a little bit of old and new and intertwined pieces from the “Bloom” Clique Sampler Paper Pack and the Skies of Blue Base and Add-on kits. My process for mixed-media layouts is usually pretty chaotic and not really planned. I begin by just applying color to a white background-9 times out of 10 that color will involve a teal of some sort! This particular background, I used the well-known “smooshing” technique that utilizes plastic packaging, color ink or paint, and water. It’s the easiest and quickest way to get color down and jumpstart any layout! While the background dries, I fussy-cut coordinating chevrons/arrows from one of the Clique Sampler’s patterned papers. I simply the lined chevrons up and did a quick stitch-an easy DIY embellishment. I pull out a few pieces from the Bloom Street floral pack to create a small “bouquet” around my photo; I put a few pieces in from the Pink Fresh Studios ephemera pack. I also stitched one of the dimensional butterflies, from the Skies of Blue kit, onto the page. I know a lot of you are cringing because of the loose threads, but I let them fly! It adds to the texture of the page-that’s my story and I’m sticking it to it! The flatback jewels that come with the kits are amazing! I’d never worked with them personally, but I have fallen in love! The container will go a long way for sure! With a few additional touches, this page is complete! Again, I hope you’ve enjoyed the layouts I’ve created from these fabulous kits! Thanks for stopping by and stay tuned for more inspiration! Hey everyone! Suzanne here today, and I am excited to share my very first layout as a Guest Designer for the month of April! I created this page using the beautiful “Skies of Blue” base kit. This kit features Pink Fresh Studio’s “Noteworthy,” collection. As soon as I saw the beautiful chip frame and journaling tags and pockets, I knew exactly what type of layout I wanted to make! I created a banner effect using pieces from the journaling bits ephemera pack; I also sprinkled in a few pieces from the die-cut ephemera pack. I played around with positioning of the tags, journaling pockets, and die-cut pieces until I was happy with the arrangement. Honestly, the hardest part of this layout was choosing which of these cool little tags to use! Once I was happy with the placement of my pieces, I stitched them together (no turning back now!) I added a couple of lines of stitching for added texture but mostly to ensure that I had all pieces securely attached. Next, I simply glued the sewn banner to the background paper and added one of the dimensional butterflies that came with the kit. I thought about adding color to the laser cut chipboard frame, but decided to leave it natural; I didn’t want to add more color to an already colorful background. Once I attached the frame to the page with double-sided foam adhesive, I added the title directly to the frame using Pink Fresh Studio’s puffy alphabet stickers. I also added some cute floral pieces from the puffy sticker pack to dress the title up a bit. To finish off the page, I sewed a strip of script patterned paper to the top and bottom of the page and added a few drops of white acrylic ink! Thank you so much for allowing me to share my layout with you today! I hope I’ve inspired or even challenged some of you to give this look a try! Hello to everyone at Clique Kits, this is Giorgia from Italy with my third and last project as Guest Designer for the month of March. I hope you are all doing well in these hard days and I hope that creativity is helping you through them… Let’s talk about the creative process behind this layout: as soon as I received my kits, I fell in love with one of the patterned paper included in international series “My Brilliant Friend” by Creative Studio kit, the one with all the branches, and I wanted to make it the protagonist of a layout. So I tore it in a half and glued it to a white cardstock that I had previously created with a flower stamp and some color splashes. One of my favorite technique is fussy cutting, so I cut some branches from the same paper to use as embellishments and layers under the picture, along with die cuts from the same kit. I must confess an addiction now… I am addicted to sequins! I love them, I collect them and I use them in almost all my projects: you can imagine my happiness when I saw the bag full of sequins included in the kit! I wanted to make something special with them, so I sewed them on the picture border to create a sort of sparkling frame! I also added some Pinkfresh Studio flatback crystals from this kit to add even more sparkle! The die cuts frames under the picture are from the international series add-on kit “Lila & Elena” Embellishments by Creative Studio. In the main kit by Creative Studio you can find a package of lovely recycled newsprint dimensional butterflies with pearl accents: I colored two of them with Distress Oxide to coordinate with colors in the layout and added to the page. The final touch is sewing all along the border of the layout to add texture (well, machine sewing is another addiction for me, along with sequins. LOL!) I really loved creating with Clique Kits during this month and I hope you will find inspiration in my projects. Thanks Gia for having me as Guest Designer representing my beautiful country, Italy! To create this layout I used this products: International Series | My Brilliant Friend | Creative Studio | Italy International Series Add-On Kit | Lila & Elena Embellishments | Creative Studio | Italy Add On Kit | My Favorite Story: Sequel | Pinkfresh Studio Hi everybody! Emilie here to share with you the second layout created using the stunning “My brilliant Friend” kit part of the Clique International collection. For this layout I decided to scrapbook a photo of Sophia I took on the plane on our way to France for Christmas. I loved the sequins which are part of the kit and wanted to make them the star of this page. I colored the black and white “doodle” circles with watercolor in pink and blue and, once dried, I fussy cut-them. I mounted my photograph on patterned paper and glued it at the center of my page. I added a few sprinkles of the same watercolor on the background and then glued the fussy cut circles above and below the photograph either straight in the paper or mounted on sticky foam pads for added dimension. To add the sequins I simply sprinkled them on my page and then glued them one by one where they had fallen. I think this helped to create a more natural look then if I had placed them myself. I framed-in my photograph even more by adding bits of the frame ephemeras at the top left and bottom right corners and then layered embellishments and ephemeras on those same corners. I used the “live the life that you dream” ephemera as my title as I thought it perfectly suited the photograph and layout. I finished off by adding my journalling above and below the photograph and a few drops of Nuvo Crystal drops, as I thought it needed that little extra touch of black. I love the little Bramble Fox acrylic embellishments which are part of the kit! They add perfect dimension without taking over the layout. Hello to everyone! Giorgia here with my second project as Guest Designer. Since I am representing Italy, I wanted to dedicate a project to an association of scrappers we have here in Italy: it is called ASI and it organizes many crops each month, to create and have fun together. I wanted to subscribe for ages and, finally, this year I did and I took part in my first crop! I created a mini to document those precious memories and what better kit than Clique Sampler Kit “Hey Crafty Girl” by Simple Stories to do it? It contains the whole paper collection and embellishments such as chipboard and stickers, so you can make a lot of projects about your crafty life! To create the cover I used one of the papers in the kit: it is a paper with big journal cards, simply perfect for this purpose! I just had to cut it and fold it to have my cover almost ready; I only added strips of fabric and lace with my sewing machine, a clip to keep it closed, embellishments and the title from this kit. This is the back of the front cover: since it has this pattern like a school notebook, I used it to journal. The mini album structure is made with plain cardstock folded in half and sewn together with the covers too: on the left pages I created a background made of paper scraps arranged and sewn together to create on every page a different design (strips, square, rectangles…). On the right page, I glued my pictures. I embellished with a mix of products from Creative Studio add-ons kit, Creative Studio main kit and Pinkfresh Studio “my favorite story” add ons kit. I decorated the left pages with embellishments or journal tags from Clique Sampler Kit “Hey Crafty Girl” by Simple Stories (I backed the journal tags with black cardstock to make it pop from the page). I am in love with the container full of Pinkfresh Studio flatback crystals included in Pinkfresh Studio “my favorite story” add ons kit: I used them here and there to add a little bit of sparkle, along with sequins from Creative Studio main kit. I really loved creating this mini album and I hope it will inspire you!
To create it I used this products: Clique Sampler Kit | Hey Crafty Girl | Simple Stories International Series | My Brilliant Friend | Creative Studio | Italy Add On Kit | My Favorite Story: Sequel | Pinkfresh Studio Hi everybody! Emilie here to share with you a layout created using the stunning “My brilliant Friend” kit part of the Clique International collection which will make you travel to Italy. This kit combines papers from a number of different collections all more inspiring than the other. The Lila and Elena Add on Kit is a bundle of more embellishments to stretch your kit even further. Make sure you place your order for these kits soon, as they are selling out fast! As always, I scrapbooked a photo of Sophia, who is the main subject of my layouts. I loved how the kit was versatile enough to suit girly layouts as much as it could suit boy layouts. I used the more subtle pink colors to create a page that would suit my daughter. To start off, I created a mixed media background by coloring some modelling paste in the same pink colors as the washi tape that had been used to close-off the little bag of embellishments. I loved how it merged with the fake mixed media effect of the wood grain patter. I then layered the pocket, tags, ephemeras and embellishments to create volume and texture. I mounted my photograph on my layout and framed it with even more embellishments. The only item in the kit that is not from Creative Studio are the little butterflies made from recycled newspaper which I am in love with and had to stop myself from using them all on that one layout! |
