Hi friends! Jodie here today with a traveller's notebook spread using the beautiful January 2018 Heart Eyes Travellers Notebook kit.
This month the spotlight collection in the kits is Paige Evans' Whimsical. I adore this collection, and it really has a full and varied colour palette, but today I've pulled mostly teals and liliacs for this spread.
The background of my layout is based on one piece of 6x6 paper, and I trimmed it so that I had one 6x4 piece and one 6x2 piece. The larger piece I adhered to the left side of the spread and the smaller piece to the right. Then to add some texture and definition I chain stitched with an embroidery thread around three sides of each paper. If you're familiar with Paige's style you'll know that she's a big fan of chain stitch on her layouts, so it was kind of fitting to include it on this spread.
The smaller patterned paper piece ended up being the perfect place to pop my journaling. I printed some strip journaling on my printer and stitched it down with my sewing machine.
And OMGosh you guys, I was SO excited to see these tassels in the TN kit this month!! Aren't they the sweetest!? I've tucked this one across the top of my journalling, and I love, love it!
One of the January add-ons that I purchased from the shop is this 2019 acrylic piece. I had planned on using it on a pocket pages spread but it worked so well with this layout I couldn't not use it here. It has a really nice thickness, weight and colour to it, and I love it. The floral piece popped on top is from the rub-on pack in the kit. Since I wanted to use it more as an ephemera piece, I applied it to some white cardstock and then fussy cut it out. There's another yellow flower in the cluster that didn't work with the rest of the spread... so I just covered it up with the puffy heart ha!
And here's the finished spread! I hope I've inspired you with a way to use 6x6 papers on your travellers notebooks today, and maybe even to try some stitching.
Thanks for stopping by,
Hi Everyone. I cant believe we are already one month down for 2019!
Today I am sharing a bright layout of 2 of my grandbabies (cousins) who came for a sleepover before school starts back. My house is like having their own art department!!
I downloaded and cut out the Messy Scallops Background digital cut file from the Clique Kits shop and cut it in half. I backed it with one of the papers from the awesome Pink Paislee Whimsical collection in the January 'Heart Eyes' kit.
The Whimsical embellishments in the kit were perfect for this photo!
Note: the second frame around the photo is from the Nov Rainbow kit. These kits work so well together!
I drew inspiration from the January sketch, below, for the layout.
Looking forward to seeing how you use this kit, cut files and sketch on the Clique Kits group Facebook page.
Hello Lovelies and Happy New Year to you all! My favorite part of starting a new year is starting a brand new album for the new year. Today I thought I would share my Introduction layout for 2019 and also share some fun transparent elements I included in this layout using the January Heart Eyes kit!
I am sticking with the 12x12 pocket pages this year, and when I opened up the Heart Eyes kit I automatically loved the cut apart sheet that is part of the Paige Evans Whimsical collection, Paper 13. It had square frames that include adorable graphics from the collection and some inspiring quotes that I want to serve as a mantra for the New Year. Once I decided to use the square page protector, I printed a square photo to take up the middle four pockets in the layout. The photo is of my husband, me, and our dog simply taking a walk in our neighborhood on New Year's Day.
Those little squares are a bit smaller than the 3x3 pockets, so I decided to have them float in those pockets. This means the page has transparent elements, so this page became all about filling these pockets with fun, see-through embellishments. It can possibly be a bit scary to use transparent elements in our pockets, but I have worked with that in some really fun ways in this layout. I had a 12x12 transparency from American Crafts in my stash, so I cut it up into 3x3 squares to use as a base in the pockets I needed them. (Sometimes you can find those transparencies in AC Moore or Michaels, or order them online from Amazon.)
The challenge with using transparent elements is what to do with the back. My most important tip is to start with the front side and repeat what you did on the front, on the back. Allow each element to hide your adhesive. In the example above, I included the year, 2019, using some wood veneer numbers I had in my stash. I needed to adhere them to the transparency somehow, so I added some of the circle stickers from Fancy Pants that are included in the kit. Before adhering them down, I made sure I had a matching set for the back side of the pocket. Then I adhered the numbers using redline tape, making sure the tape doesn't show through the back! So fun!
Of course I want to channel lots of love into our lives this year, so I included a heart pocket. The ephemera pack had this really cute rainbow heart, so I matched it up with a smaller heart, and cut out two more to add to the back side. Notice how I used my Tiny Attacher to staple these elements to the transparency. Make the staples a part of the design of your card, since these might be a bit more challenging to conceal.
I also loved these clouds from the ephemera pack, so I designed a transparency card around them as well. The clouds to me represent a bit of rain to make love grow, but they are bright and colorful to also represent hope and a colorful life! Again, I cut around them using the patterned papers to make sure I had enough for front and back. I also attached these with staples, and I might possibly add a stamped sentiment to the yellow cloud on the back side later on. This is so much fun!
Of course no pocket page is complete without a fun sequin pocket, so I used my Fuse tool to seal in the sequins that were in the kit as well. This awesome mix from Spiegelmom Scraps pulls all the colors from the kit together so beautifully and makes it feel like a party in the pocket.
Here is a full look at the back side of the page, which is now set up for the first layout in January! For the back of the photo I simply added two squares of patterned paper and two squares for journaling. When I am ready to create this layout I can fill those in and it will already be half way completed! I hope this has been a fun tutorial on how to use transparent elements in your pocket pages. Have you had the chance to create with your Heart Eyes kit yet? Be sure to share with us, we would love to see!
Hello scrappy friends! Today I'm sharing my first layout of the month featuring the Flower Field cut file along with the lovely January 2019 kit (the background paper is from an older PE collection).
It was a lot of fun creating this whimsical layout! As I was flipping through the pretty papers in the kit the idea to use some of the boxes as flowers immediately popped into my head. The end result is even better than I had expected (don't you just love it when that happens?).
I pulled colors to match the colors in her dress and fisnihed things off with a few whimsy touches.
Here are a couple of detailed images.:
I hope I've inspired you to think out of the box a bit.

Hello you guys and happy new year! May it be full of creativity, peace and happiness! Today I have a new layout to share with you, using the „Turn The Page“ Cut File .
Like most of my layouts, I prepared my background first. This time I used watercolors and painted some strokes and created some splashes. While waiting for the paint to dry, I fussycut one of my favorite papers from Pink Paislee's „Auburn Lane“ Collection which you could find in the Clique Kits „GATHER“ October 2018 Main Kit.
My photo, that I took on New Year's Day, shows my planners, art journal and my 6x8 album that I plan to use this year. That's why I chose this Cut File, it perfectly fits, don't you think? It's not only a new year, but also a new beginning, because I plan to try everything out and see what I really really like and what will stick in the future.
So back to the making process: First I put the Cut File over my painted brushstrokes, it kind of fit really well. I arranged the flowers right after that. At first I wanted to put the photo right on the Cut File, but it didn't look right to me. So it went on the opposite site. I wrote some journaling down and used some stickers from the „Auburn Lane“ sticker sheet and some puffy hearts from Maggie Holmes' „Willow Lane“ Collection. The rest is from her Sticker Book. Some machine stitching gave the layout its final touch. I really like the fresh and flowery vibe of the layout and of course the color combination. I hope you do too.
Also I hope you feel inspired to try this Cut File out and document your goals for this new year. Have a wonderful time crafting and see you soon!
Happy New Year Friends!!! I'm so excited to be back today with my first project using the amazing January 2019 Kits. The spotlight collection of this month is Whimsical by Paige Evans and it comes with so many colors and lots of fun illustrations that you guys are going to love.
For my project, I created a grid design with different elements from the main and traveler's notebook kit. I used flowers, fussy cut some butterflies, and added some rub-ons in the end.
Here is my project.
Here are some close-ups.
I hope you liked this project. Let me know if you have any questions.
Have an amazing weekend!
Hi Clique friends! This is Anastasia.
Do you like coffee? I love to walk and drink coffee. And if the weather is cold the coffee is even tastier. Today my layout is about that.
I created it with Lots-o-Coffee cut file. I used half the file cut it with scissors and made each glass of a different color. I also used stickers from the November Traveler's Notebook Kit.
Happy New Year everyone!!
Today I have a very summery page (seeing as we are basking in very hot weather downunder!) using the December Rainbow kit and digital cut files, Tropical Leaves and Hibiscus, from the CK shop.
I have backed the Hibiscus cut file with .... papers, but have bordered the large leaf from the Tropical leaves so it contrasts the white.
Below are the digital cut files which can be found in the CK shop.
Cheers, and best wishes to everyone for a happy and prosperous 2019!
